Need quick answer how much oil 09 4x4 with a 5.4

Can anyone shoot me a quick answer? on How much oil my 09 F150 with a 5.4 takes with filter change? First oil change since my diesel that took 4 gallons... Do I need to buy the 5 quart bottle or a second 5 quart to get 6 quarts?

Yeah I was there on the oil but our Wally Marts here don't have a book for the MC filters so I went with a Fram... Till it didn't fit then I rectified it with a MC...

When you change the oil, put in 7 quarts. If it does not hit the full mark, LEAVE IT ALONE. You do not need nor want that extra half quart. It is full at 7 quarts if a filter change was included. Personally I always buy a 5qt and 2 singles for a change.

Never never use the orange Fram. Can damage a Ford. They are correct on the 7 quarts. Wherever it hits on the stick, that is your full mark.

Whats your reasoning behind this? Anywhere in the hash marks is okay but I would preffer to be near the top incase I burn a little? 7 Quarts just got into the hash marks the extra half put it about 1/4 of the way from the top of the hash's? Plus it works out great that I buy 2 5 quarts and in between buy one and use the left over from last time?

The reasoning is in the owners manual. It states 7 quarts. Not 7.5. It also states that when changing or checking the oil if anywhere between the hash marks, DO NOT ADD OIL.
The dipstick is an approximation. When you change it using 7 quarts, mark where it hits the dipstick. That is your full mark.

As far as Fram filters, they have crappy anti-drain back valves. Many after an overnight shutdown get valve clatter until the oil gets back to the top of the engine. That is a dry start and will lead to wear. The MC and others, like Wix, Purolater have much better anti-drain back valves.
