limtited gearing options (XLT)
hey all,
I've been looking at dealers from northern washinton all the way to medford oregon and cant find 1 dealer that has a 2012 or 2013 XLT with 3.73's they all have 3.55 or worse 3.31. I know 3.55 are good for most but I would be running 33"s and eventually a good size trailer. main question is why are xlt's with 3.73 so few and far between?

I found the same thing (Seattle) when I ordered mine in September. I was looking for an XLT SCab EB w/3.73 & Max Tow and I ended up needing to place an order and wait 6 weeks to get it.
Once I ordered though I filled the time by using the Ford website to look at what dealers had and a couple of weeks later I saw them get a bunch on XLT Screws in with 3.73s and 5.5 beds.
My feeling is that they just don't sell a lot of them so every once and a while they order a few and then it takes some time for the to move. I'd suggest using the ford site and then looking at the window stickers of the ones that match you color and engine.
It's a pain but if you don't want to order and wait it really seems to be the only way (YMMV but I haven't seen great deals when the dealer says "I'll source the truck from another dealer for you").
