Air Bags or Not?

I have a 2013 Ford F150 Eco Limited. I pull a 7 X 14 enclosed trailer that weighs about 4,200# loaded. The tongue weight is 320#.

The Limited has 22" wheels so the carry load is only 1,145# and a GVWR of 7,200#.

I don't think I will ever go over the limit.

I am thinking about getting the Firestone 2525 air bags.

Do I really need to do this?

We sell a 59568 Ride Control; Leaf Spring Leveling Kit for the 2013 F150 trucks. If your rear sags when towing that trailer, this would definitely get rid of that. And you can adjust it as needed for various load amounts. Just note that adding helper springs will not increase your towing capacity. You can view the installation instructions here. Let me know if you have any questions.

I wish I could do that but my trailer does not have an A frame.

It is just one main shaft.

If it is only 300 lbs on the hitch, I wouldn't do anything. That is not much at all. The truck should handle that by itself. If it doesn't, I would take it back.

Have you tried pulling it yet? If not, hook it up and go for a spin and see how it handles. I have a friend that pulls his 8000 tandem axle RV, and the truck pulls it fine, but the springs are sagging on his, but I am sure he has closer to 1000lbs on the tongue weight on that.

I just towed it to Maryland. 1,200 miles round trip.

I am pretty sure I had the most I will ever have in it.

There were 5 guys was all their guns, shooting bags, shells, and suitcases.

The trailer hitch was down about 2" from level.

The trailer towed great.

Gas mileage was really bad at 8 mpg but I was running 71mph.

A friend of mine has a truck like mine and he hauled 80 cases of shotgun shells that weighed 2,000#. He said it worked fine!

First things first, your site doesn't list any adjustable helpers for the 2010 model year. Why would these things fit a 2013, and not the 2010?

2nd, assuming that a guy has a leveled truck without these, and a spacer that is larger than the factory 1.25", do you have any options?

Even at the minimum 5psi, would you see any rear end height change? (I'm thinking that you would have 1/2 inch minimum even at 5 psi)

The 59568 kit I mentioned above also works for the 2010-2012 models (2WD and 4WD), sorry I didn't mention that. It does not work with the Heritage or Raptor models though. There seems to be an error on our site if you select 2010, then choose 2WD or 4WD, the kit doesn't show up. But if you choose All Drive Types from the Variable drop down menu, it shows up. I'll send this to our website team.

I just sent my tech support manager an email regarding your second point.

At 5psi, you should not see any lift, but I guess it's possible, but very minimal if any. At the max pressure, you'd only see an inch or two.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Nevermind, I had a brain fart. It was 1am when I wrote that. The blocks go between the diff and the springs, and your bags go between the springs and the frame. The latter wouldn't change no matter what size blocks you slip in.

Just think of all the sales you would miss out on if I hadn't pointed out the glitch........ Such fine deeds should be rewarded with say...... a complimentary set of bags? I'll review them thoroughly for ya, and post it online here, with pictures!

$340 worth of advertising, that would be worth its weight in gold!
