4 Door still doesn't have the room...

It's me, my wife, and our 2 dogs almost EVERYWHERE we go (Service dogs) and the way the rear seating area is put together, sucks. wish there was a way to design the rear seats to make them slide forward and flat so the whole area could be used. one of my dogs is 75lbs, and the puppy is 80lbs, so they are big kids.

gonna start asking around and see if i can get something fiberglassed... we don't have 2 legged kids, just 4 legged

Sounds like you need a E150..

Or just remove the back seats altogether.

why not just fold the back seats up? There is a ton of space with the seat up

thinking about taking out the bench section all together and building a step up that will lie flat all the way across and to the back wall.

and yea, there is a ton of room with the seats up, but i also have the amp kit on the floor that pretty much hinders that area useless. when we go somewhere, it's at least 45 miles to anywhere (love living in the sticks)

Why didn't you buy an Expedition? The 3rd row folds flat, and would have room for your puppies

Well that's a little unfair if you ask me.

Say it's too small and than say you can't fold the seats up lol

That's like saying I can't fit them in the rear row of my SUV (which is too small)

Got to find a way to fold those seats up or protect the amp.... maybe if you take all the seats out entirely you can than mount the amp the rear wall of the cab that would free up the floor space for the pups

There is a ton of space back there. I took a 6 hour trip last month with my 80lb Sheppard, beagle and one person in the back seat, plenty of room. Usually we fold up all the seats, but this time just the two person seat, and that was still enough room. I think you should get rid of the amp or relocate it.

long trips arent a problem... its the everyday trips liking going to class in the rain, grocery shopping, going to the doctor. its getting in, getting out constantly all day every day...

gonna look into a bedcover and removing the bench seat and building a platform...

crash i hear what youre saying. my parents have larger dogs and my mom has a full size 4 door chevy. the butt part of the back seat folds forward up against the drivers seat and the back part of the backseat folds down and lays flat. so it covers all the amps/tools and still gives a huge platform for dogs. when i bought my f150 i missed that feature because when youre hauling boxes or whatever its really nice to fold the seats down and have more room/not set the boxes on the seat/not have to put everything in the bed. id look into going the custom route

You may need a Suburban or MiniVan if you require more room. My two 85lb Shepherd working dogs have logged 40K miles in our 2010 F150 screw with zero complaints. They usually sprawl out and don't even touch each other. Other than wrecking my window tint and door panels when someone walks too close to the truck it works well for us. We got a topper last year so they spend more time in their 500 crates now. Everyone is safer when they are in their crates and the truck stays a lot cleaner.

You could pull the whole back seat and deck it with wood then glue workout mat foam to the top side. I did this in my old F250 and it about doubled the back seat space for dogs.

Get a shell and put a bed rug in and put the dogs in the back.

I think that on the 95 and earlier truck the back seat did fold into a platform. I drove a friends F-250 that was like that and I loved that setup. But that was a Scab, not a crew.

Maybe check the bone yard and see if you could use one of those and modify it to fit your truck.

I like the Snuglid Rebel with the side Win-Doors, they open up to get to gear and they have the screened window for ventilation. I also have the front fold down slider for air. They can stay back there 85% of the year in the midwest. Only in the hottest part of summer do they have to come up front for A/C. Both crates have 10" Automotive cooling fans and in cab temp monitoring. I don't worry until it holds over 90 in the summer. The shell makes for excellent shade.
