The biggest piece of non-news in weeks.

I thought they might put the EcoBoost in it but are probably saving the big changes for the next gens.

The REAL NEWS is the 2014 Raptor itself. Most people were saying it was being cancelled this year.

I doubt you're right. For 2013 people said there would be no changes. Then there was MFT, new center stacks, new colors, 6.2 expanded to XLT/FX4, hill descent control, Power Fold Tow mirrors, Limited, and whatever else I'm forgetting.

Let's go back in time and check the 2008 order guide: New for 2008 are the XL SuperCrew, STX Wheels and Stripes Package, Limited Package, Reverse Camera System, Cargo Management System, new colors, Chrome Tow Mirrors, Harley revisions, etc.

There may be less changes than previous changes, but there will be changes. Ford won't rest just because it is the last year of the current gen.

I was referring to major product line changes known as a refresh. Sure they will change a few things, but there will most likely not be a refresh as they did in '13. And yes the '13's are great.... you forgot the HID's, new wheels, new grilles....

On a much better note: I freaking love Ruby Red and it looks great on the Raptor. I wonder when Ford will announce the other 2014 F150 changes?
Order date is August 19th so hopefully there will be some info before then. If not the order guide will be out by then. I'm guessing there will be probably be another appereance package or two for the regular F-150, colors added and deleted and maybe something new.

I'm going to list all of the major changes here.

New for 2014:
1) Raptor Special Edition
2)
3)
4)
5)
6)

Will update as more is released.

Well, I was referring to Model years.

Model Year 2004 was an "all new" design, that carried through model year 2008.
That's 5 model years.

Model Year 2009 was an "all new" design, if that carries through model year 2014 That's 6 model years.

So if model year 2015 will be the "all new" design then Ford tacked 1 whole model year onto the cycle.

The 97-03 design was used for 7 years - 8 years if you count the 04 Heritage.

1997 was a whole new model year that carried through to 2003-thats seven model years. Trying to predict a schedule of when a manufacturer is going to release new generations is a fools errand. There are simply too many complex facets of making a new vehicle for a manufacturer to be able to stay on a set schedule.

There has been quite a bit of refinement since this design was introduced.

The current weight/handling of the F-150 SCREW is perfectly matched to the weight of the boat I currently tow. I don't buy trucks for the mileage. I am not taking any chances on the 2015 F-150 Light. lol
Not me. I always try to buy the last year of a design. It is usually always the most refined with the bugs worked out. If the new design is coming in 2015, next summer I'm ording out a 6.2L FX4 SCREW/6.5' box with a 3.73/Max Tow. It will probably be the last V-8 down the assembly line. In 30 years I can sell my 2014 for a lot of money. "Last of the V-8s"!!!!

I don't want the F-150 "Light" either

I don't think the 5.0 is going away any time soon.

That would be an awesome set up.

I have owned many F150 5.4/3.73s over the years and looked hard for a 6.2/3.73 this time around since the 5.4 is no more. Couldn't find a 6.2. Took an FX2 5.0/3.73 (not so easy to find either) and it has been a lot of fun. I'm enjoying it.

Good Luck.

How do you like that new 5.0 compared to the 5.4? It would be a lot cheeper than the 6.2, but I'm just worried about durability when towing/hauling with the aluminum block. I want this next truck to last me 10+ years. I currently have a 5.4/3.73 and it has torque up the a$$. I like how it pulls. The 5.4 has its issues, but overall I think it is a solid motor for a truck that gets used like a truck. I don't care if the 5.0 is quicker off the line!
