truck might be totalled

my parents were driving back home this morning when a guy ran a light and my dad t-boned him. The guy was driving a 2002 king ranch. Guys truck flipped over and landed on its feet. Everyone went to the hospital and my parents are resting at home now. I don't know about the other guy. Friend of ours took pictures of both trucks and she said they had about 4 bottles of liquor in their truck.
anyways here are some pictures of my dads 2011 xlt. Both airbags deployed. These are the only shots i was able to snap with my cell phone. Name: 6F0C032A-1C2B-4FCD-9675-5BA43871807F-780-0000002D59288D75.jpg

Damn. Looks like it absorbed the impact well though. If in a Chevy/GMC your parents might still be at the hospital. GMs are just fenders and a grill with a 3 piece bumper. Hope everyone is ok!

yeah specially since it was a high speed crash. speed limit was about 70. do you know how long the insurance usually takes to say if it was totaled?

Impossible to say- it depends on the insurance company. I will say State Farm has been amazing, but I have a great agent. Friends of mine have pursued the cheapest option and taken months to get things fully resolved.

Glad your parents are ok, that's most important! The trucks looks to have then the hit dam well considering the type of accident it was involved in.
Your best bet is to let them total it, you don't want it back after a hit like that!

Usually when the bags are deployed, it's totaled. I wouldn't want that truck back. It's gonna have frame damage and a whole mess of other things away from the impact point that are gonna be tweaked. Asses drinking and driving and almost killing people. But I'm glad your parents are alright.

no we don't want that truck back. I am so glad my family is ok. Thanks for your concern guys. Any suggestions on what happens next? We are thinking of hiring a lawyer to help us clean up this mess. That way he/she can take care of all the paper work stuff. I wouldn't even know where to start.

Not necessarily, I had an accident a couple of years ago where there was frame damage. They replaced the frame. No different than off the showroom floor.

Nope, take everything off the old frame and place it on the new. As these vehicles have ladder frames, they can be replaced, unlike uni-body. Just like the original build of the truck. Start with a frame and attach everything to it. It is a lot of work, but worth it if the vehicle doesn't need to be totaled. Cost of the frame is about 3500 for the part.

See this page. It is for a 2012.

interesting. i kinda hope they do total this one though. it has a lot of damage. only part of the truck that did not receive damage was the back of the truck.

It is all going to depend upon how much the damage is other than the frame. On mine it was the frame, bumper, grill, one fender, radiator support, headlights, and some other pieces. Can't remember all that was replaced. Bill was $13,300.
