Thinking about moving up to a 10 Lariat. Is it worth it?

Hey guys.. well i am starting to really like the new body style trucks but i dont know alot about them.. I really like my 07 but just really starting to like the new body styles.. I am getting alot of different prices when it comes to the different trims.. Ive been looking online and have found several i like and i think are within my price range...

This is the first one that i Really like... Its a 10 Lariat 56,000 miles.. Looks like its loaded up pretty nice.. Im just not real sure on the price they are wanting.. I looked on kbb and they are asking exactly what kbb says its worth.. How much room in negotiations do you think i have on this truck?? Im loving the color of it.. Reminds me of my Chestnut KR..

http://www.5starford.com/car/192119/...Lariat?lpid=79

Here is the other one that i am looking at is 2 years newer but a xlt for about the same price.. I dont think im going to like the xlt but would love the new 5.0.. So if i want the lariat is it worth the 2 year difference and the engine?

http://www.5starford.com/car/184028/...50_XLT?lpid=79

I looked at kbb for my truck and it should be right around 15k trade in.. What is a reasonable price for the 2010 Lariat and the 12 xlt?

Thanks guys..

If you're going to bother with this generation, 2009 to 2014, get a 2011+ with the new engines, select shift, and many interior updates.

That used XLT non-chrome package with 16k miles for $27,490. is almost the same price as this 2013 XLT brand new with the chrome package...

2013 Ford F-150 XLT TEXAS EDITION 2WD SUPERCREW
Exterior: Blue Flame Metallic
Interior: Pale Adobe
Drivetrain: 8 cylinder Automatic
Stock: DKD80502
Retail $38,655
Internet Price
$28,637
You Save:
$10,018

Yup, buddy of mine just got a brand new XLT (granted a supercab) for I believe 28.5k out the door. He like you might do, crunched the numbers and determined that buying a used one was not worth saving only 2-3 thousand dollars! But I definitely agree that if you want a new body style, get an 11+ because otherwise it's the same as what you're currently driving. The 5.0's and Eco's are so much faster and get a good bit better mpg haha

I just hate the cloth seats! Lol... I had a 07 xlt and traded it off for my fx2 with leather.. Doesn't the 9-10's have the 6 speed and more power than the 04 to 08.. Plus more goodies? I'm going to pay cash (cant afford a new lariat) just afraid I'm not going to like the interior.. But on the other hand better engines!

The cloth seats in FX4s are softer and more plush than XLT cloth seats.

OK did a little more digging and found a 13 ecoboost for 29k...

http://www.grapevineford.com/new/For...4e19d69b6f.htm

This would be the first new vehicle purchase i have ever dealt with. This may be a stupid question.. After all the rebates and stuff is there still room for negotiation on the price or is that what you will pay?

Msrp 38,895
Dealer discount 4505
rebate 5500

Total 28,890...

Found a 5.0 for 27,700

I had a dealer email me a price that was $1000 lower than their eprice. The only way to know is to get their invoice price, and go from there.

There should still be some room. And test drive a truck with cloth and one with leather. The leather in all new Fords (King Ranch excluded) is not nice at all; it's very thin and feels like foamy vinyl and a lot of guys have had bad experiences with it wearing out very quickly. I personally think you would be much better off buying or with cloth and getting high end aftermarket leather installed. I know you seem like a "keep it stock" guy, so you may not want to do that. But getting leather of equal-to-factory quality after market leather should cost roughly $1300, and the mark up for leather from Ford is around $3k and it is not worth it. But the '09 and '10 do have more power than our trucks, but the 5.0 and Ecoboost still outshine the updated 5.4s.

But it just comes down to what you like! Test drive some 5.4s, 5.0s, Eco's, leather, cloth; see what feels "right" to you! We can give our suggestions, but that's what we would do!

Go for a 2011+ with a 5.0 or EB, get away from the 5.4!

You sure have been going through a lot of trucks recently - you should have kept your 03 KR and just use that V-10 beast you found for towing.

Reason i got rid of the Kr is we are traveling alot more and with the mileage ive put on the last 2 07 the kr wouldve been up to around 175k.. I just didnt want to keep it so long that it wouldnt have been worth anything when i was ready for a new truck.. I got rid of it with 150k and i think i got a hell of a trade in value. Many more miles and it wouldnt have been worth much.

Ive already put on 13k on my current truck since Patrick changed the plugs in feb of this year.. The v10 is still going strong but with the 13 to 14mpg its hard to take it on many trips without the camper..

Im going to the local dealership today and drive a 5.4 5.0 and ecoboost and see if im still interested..

Thanks for your help everyone.

I'm not suggesting the V-10 be used for a daily driver or a road machine without the trailer!

For your primary truck, I wouldn't get rid of what you have for another 5.4 truck. If you aren't going to tow heavy with it (and why would you if you have a SD for that?) I wouldn't consider anything but a 11+ 5.0. Somehow I don't think you would like an EB and you don't need it for that use.

The 5.0 will run circles around a 5.4 and get better gas mileage. It also sounds good. I think Bluejay would concur.

Note that you *can* get a Screw with a 3.7 - but only in 2wd, 5.5' bed, and XL/XLT. This would definitely keep cost down, but I don't think you would like it either. It has more ***** than that 4.6 you had for a while, but the 5.0 will get just as good gas mileage.
