Wink 2012 Rejected 89 Octane!

I was getting some lawnmower gas yesterday, and had prepaid, so I just stuck the nozzle in the truck to use up what I had paid. With money still left on the pump, the pump shut off and the overfill drain had gas running out of it. When I got in the truck it showed only 3/4 full. It's like it rejected the 89octane when it used to a diet of 87. Just kidding. I have a SCREW with the 36 gal tank. Point is there was plenty of room for the rest of the gas. Anone else have problems with filling their tank? Truck has 15K miles and I've never seen anything like this previously.

Sometimes on the newer trucks and at older pumps if you put the nozzle to far down the filler neck, like where it's resting without you holding it up, it'll kick off. The filler necks are also smaller which doesn't help either so running it on the fast setting can also cause it to kick off early.

I think pizzaman hit the nail on the head. I have to pull the nozzle back just a little to keep the gas running into the tank.

But what if you tune for 89, that changes things.

How much do you know about the newer PCMs found in the current generation F150s and Mustangs?

I talked to a elder ford mechanic today and he said to run high octane in the eco boost once and a while.

If memory serves the eco boost engine was original designed in Germany and was modeled loosely after BMW dual turbo engine and I can tell you first hand what can hapen if you don't use higher octain gas in an eco boost, especially if you live in Communist Republic of California. YOu can get a whole lot of unexpected service appointments at the dearlership. Best advise go with 89 octain at a MINIMUM, but 92 if possible
