Not for me, but good for you. Do what you like and like what you do.... or something like that. I kind of like the green.

Keep doing what you do and keep posting pics.

Did you use OEM Ford components for the 2005 and just modify the mounting points/brackets? Or use aftermarket fiberglass pieces?

Bluegreen, you're still missing my point. OGTerror's truck is exactly what it was meant to be, an offroad monster. This Raptor conversion is exactly what it was meant to be, a super modified, road going, attention grabbing, business promoted truck. It serves absolutely no other purpose. It does what it was intended to do, and does it quite well.

Additionally, he has referred to the truck only as a "Raptor Conversion." He has never claimed it as a Raptor. And as far as I'm concerned, Raptor badges on this truck are the same as 4X4 stickers on a 2wd. No big deal

It is a very nicely done conversion. Nice work.

But it does seem to me the kit doesn't line up very well at all. And that grille looks like the one in my smoker. Great for hamburgers.

Now before anyone goes off on my comments, remember, this is a message board.

OP, people are always gonna have something to complain about. I think both trucks look freaking great!

I would like to see more ORIGINALITY in the work since this is a business and he is thinking about opening a shop.

Don't just copy Ford. As for no big deal, it can be if you're a business and doing it for profit. I'll say Ford is cracking down on rip off clones (see Chinese F-150 that was shut down by Ford's lawyers). I doubt Ford and King Ranch will be ok with another business selling knock off King Ranch seats with the trademark RUNNING W design. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

On one hand I agree, but on the other this may be worse. Making something look like something it is not with the badges is a terrible thing to do. However combining misc parts with others such as Raptor flares and a off-road bumper would make a good combo. It is just like the guys who take Mustangs and make fake GT's and Cobras out of them that I don't care for. My feeling is its an open invitation for harassment. I know I will get flamed for this but to each his own.

I agree with that actually. But that's because V6 mustangs are gross haha. I understand the analogy though.

Rambo, I agree with the copyright concerns. All of that Stuff gets very complicated, tricky, and delicate. I do believe that this particular truck is his personal vehicle though. But I can certainly see where selling vehicles with "Raptor"/SVT and King Ranch involved can end badly

I just did some searching and saw this thread by someone starting a business to sell replica cars with OEM badges on some attorney website.

"While I cannot give you legal advice in this forum, as a general matter what you are doing would not be wise or recommended. There are many IP issues at work here, including trademark infringement issues.

THIS RESPONSE IS INTENDED TO CONVEY GENERAL INFORMATION ONLY. IT SHOULD NOT BE RELIED UPON OR TAKEN AS LEGAL"

http://www.avvo.com/legal-answers/i-...---811073.html

So even if you tell them it is a clone it could be infringing on Ford or whoever's badges/trademarks you are using. On the other hand if you started with a real Raptor or real King Ranch and added customization to it and sell it for a higher pricer that would be ok. Not sure if the Raptor name is trademarked but I'm sure the logos are. If you did the badge/logo thing for your own personal use that would probably be ok.

I'm not trying to flame anyone or get flamed. I'm just want to provide info.

I don't see why some of you are getting all torn up about this. It's a custom truck. Nobody flamed the other people with threads about converting their truck to look like a raptor. It is an awesome truck with a lot of work into. Why can't you all just appreciate it for what it is. I personally think it is awesome, keep up the great work man.

Were those other people opening up a dealerships to do it? I appreciate his skill, but I don't see how this is a sustainable business model. You just can't slap their logos on it and sell it. It has to be a real Raptor or King Ranch to start with or it is violating trademearks and copyrights owned by others not to mention its unfair competition to dealers of the real thing.

Example:
Holy smokes Batman! Court finds Batmobile replicas infringe DC Comics’ copyrights
