Need help asap!! Truck wont start

I went to work for a few hours of OT and when I went to leave my truck will not start. It wont crank or anything.

When I leave the key in the on position the check engine light is on for 10 or more seconds then starts to flash. It flashes 7 times n on the 8th flash it stays lit.

Any thoughts?? I had to leave it at work. It is raining and late and cant mess with it tonight. Its a good thing I live and work in the same town and its only a mile away.

It does have a BOA aftermarket remote start and alarm. It came with the truck and it does not work. It does have an aftermarket light in the dash and would drive me nuts because every once in a while the alarm would go off and horn start honking. I tried unplugging the harness from the aftermarket box but truck wouldn't start. So I traced the horn wire that is hooked to alarm and unplugged it. That was a few days ago and has been fine up until tonight.

Now this...Could the flash of the check engine light tell me anything???

Okay, good! I just saw your thread and that was the only suggestion that I could think of short of towing it to the dealer. Glad you're running again!

It sounds like the PATS defeat part of the alarm crapped out on you. I believe that series of CEL flashes means the key is improperly programed and the ECM locks out the starter.
