Glad they are fixing the problem,
As far as the eco motors being on back order according to you cause many are "falling apart" is just plain stupid though.
If you dont like the truck after its fixed then trade it off and never look back.

That sounds offensive to me. As new as the ecoboost is, why are they on back order? Its not like they pull them from the assembly line. It makes sense to me that Ford would plan for a certain amount of failures and supply them. Therefor it is not "stupid" to think there are more failures then planned. I understand the advice to get rid of it and move on, but I wouldn't want to take the loss either. I don't believe anyone giving that advice is backing it with any money. I hope you will reconsider your opinion.

As far as trading it in, If Im not happy with my 40k sticker truck you damn right i would trade it in a heartbeat. Does everybody have the means to trade in a new truck? No probaly not but alot of people do, it depends on you financial situation.
There are many threads with people not giving the ecoboost a chance and they traded it in on a 5.0, There is a guy that posted yesterday he traded in his '13 5.0 for a '13 ecoboost after having problems with it.
We know your a eco hater and that's cool, but stop thinking every ecoboost is trash cause they are not.. Plenty of happy owners around

I've done several major engines on different manufacturers. Never had any of them come back. I take my time and stay organized.

All I was referring to was you saying stupid "stupid". I have no hatred for eco and no, your rationale for back-orders doesn't make sense to me. I agree with the OP that demand for replacements is higher than expected. The only other option is to call Ford stupid not the poster. Doesn't it ever bother people that when warranty work needs to be done everything is on back order? I am not being harsh here. That fact is that Ford is unwilling to allocate the resources to make warranty work a priority and obviously there is no incentive.

Didn't want to start a thread war KINGRANCHCOY and RexReid. If you read my post I said a shortage was due to either new production or replacements.I didn't say replacements only. As far a thread war i dont think it turned out like that, i just stated a few facts to Rex reid since he made it sound like the ecoboost is a brand new motor and its not. Every engine including the ecoboost,3.7,5.0 and 6.2 are going to have problems. Its not just a ecoboost problem. Over the last two weeks on this forum there has been a 6.2 that needed a head, a guy trading his 5.0 for a ecoboost cause of problems and you needing a new engine.
My dad bought his 01 supercrew with the 4.6 in it brand new, at 1300 miles they had to replace the engine. Since then the truck has been great even though it has 33,000 miles on it. We all know how good the 4.6 and 5.4's are but its just something that is going to happen every once in a while to a motor

This statement was not made by me. Nor was it about me. I disagree with the person who made the statement and he agreed that "stupid" may not have been a great choice. In fact, why don't some people contact Ford and ask them why eco engines are on back order? To me backorder means supply is not keeping up with demand?

mtnmanut, there's not a backlog of EB engines as such. As these engines are programmed to run thru the line, they are assigned an assembly number that corresponds to a unit to be made, like a King Ranch truck. A replacement engine requires a separate number to be inserted in the line. Yours will be a factory fresh engine made for your truck, not something they just pulled off of a line. There is no major catastrophic failures with any of the EB engines. The reason the dealer has been told to stop the tear down is that Ford wants its engineers to tear the engine down see why exactly your engine failed. They can't do that with a dealer tech doing the tear down. Consider your trashed engine as a donor to the future of the EB family of engines. The more Ford gets to see trashed engines the more improvements they can make so this doesn't happen again. I know, a car company that gives a damn about the quality of its products- how unusual is that?

This is great information. I have a couple of questions. Who are you? How do you know all of this? Who do you work for? I appreciate that you are saying Ford cares about the product they put out and I appreciate the process. If it was my truck I would prefer someone pulled an engine from the line rather than wait for what is in essence Ford's convenience. I would ask Ford to make getting my truck up and running their first priority and I would ask Ford to supply a loaner vehicle of my choice that is comparable (I don't know if that was done); If that was done than good for Ford. When I got a rental, it was a car and my truck is a work truck. I missed several days of work. Thanks again for the information and I look forward to answers to my questions.
