It's been awhile, I upgraded

I joined a few years ago but didn't post much, found most my answers by searching. Anyway, a couple months ago I traded my 99 XLT for a new 2013 FX4 crew cab. I have made and will be making more mods so I came back here for inspiration, education & witty banter.

Truck is ingot silver with the 402A package with navigation & moon-roof.
Ecoboost with 3.73 gearing

Short list of current mods;

Rough Country level kit
Truxedo Low Pro QT bed cover
WeatherTech bed & tailgate liner
WeatherTech splash guards
Stampede bug deflector & vent visors
Black powder coat aluminum shorty antenna
Removed the OEM black / chrome emblems and replaced with black / red
Ford Remote Access
Front of mirror reflector to turn signal mod
Bumper grille

The red badges & my Ranger Boats decal that matches perfectly if I do say so myself.

More mods planned but not until spring at the earliest.

Let me know what you think, I'll be around.

Hey phowler, when you put on the red/black badges, did you notice if they were two piece? I've heard they were and you can pop out the red section and repaint them a different color. If they are, I would like to paint them blue flame and put them on my blue flame FX4

I'm not 100% positive on the red ones I installed but I know the OEM chrome ones I removed are two piece because the tailgate emblem partially separated when I was pulling it off. If I were a betting man I'd say the others are also. I can take a closer look later today but I had to leave home at 4:30 this morning, wife is having a baby today.

No rush, that new baby is more important. I can wait. Besides, I know how you feel, my first grandchild will be here in 4 more months.

Here you go, I did the same thing with my 2013 Silver FX2 and bought mine of eBay.

2012 red appearance package ones are two piece. I painted my red inserts white with automotivetouchup paint to match. Non-AP ones are hit or miss on whether or not they're two-piece, at least it seems that way.

Truck looks nice, OP! Good mods to start with.

Yep, these are the same ones I put on.

Thanks for the compliments.

Ya know, when I look at a truck on the lot I don't exactly love the way they look, I see it as a platform for what it can become. This one is headed the right direction in my eyes but there is more to be done. Hopefully sooner rather than later I would like to see it on a 4" lift with different wheels & tires. Fender flares lined up with the tire sidewall and PTM the current flares will probably finish the look I'm after. I'm also planning on removing the Ecoboost emblems and doing something about the chrome surrounding the grille & tailgate ovals. Third brake light also needs attention. My wife thinks it was fine the way it was but she sure likes painting walls and decorating the house……

My AP emblems were also 2 piece. I popped the red inserts out sanded them smooth and painted them grey. Most people probably like the textured inserts on the 09+ F150 emblems. But I hated it so I sanded them smooth.

Yep, she's not a homemaker she's a home-modder.
Her crafty stuff is my bug deflector, her bathroom remodel, my lift kit. Matter O' fact, for the price of her recent remodel I could have the best lift kit money can buy. I have a sneakin suspicion she won't see it that way though.

Well, the argument against you/us is that homes are an investment and usually 60-80% of upgrade cost is added to the home's value. But our trucks are just a money pit But it makes us happy, so they can deal with it!

I sanded my badges smooth too. Don't care for the texture much, and don't understand why it's even textured at all in the first place.
