New Truck (Take 2)

Went up to Jacksonville Saturday, and ended up driving home in a new truck! I know, I know, I just got the 2011 (literally, in December), but I got such a good deal on the '13 I just couldn't pass it up. I had a good amount of equity in my trade, they gave me what I wanted for it, and I got a lower interest rate and shorter financing term from my bank. So, in the long run, the new one is costing me even less than the old one And not only that, it's quite a bit more truck!

It's a 2013 F-150 XLT Supercab Ecoboost 4x4. I traded my 2011 Supercrew 3.7L 4x2. All in all, it's an upgrade in every aspect. The only compromise I made was the backseat. However, in my opinion it's not a downgrade. I'm sure many will disagree with me, but I actually prefer the look of an extended cab truck. I don't have any kids or anything, so I don't really need the full crew cab. My dog never complains about legroom

As an added bonus, I got them to agree to do a direct wheel/tire swap, so I got to transfer my brand new Nitto Terra Grapplers to the new truck I already put the truck to work, too. Hauled my boat across town yesterday. The 3.7 was a solid motor, but this ecoboost is a whole different world. Absolutely thrilled with it. First time I've ever had 4WD too.

Here's a few pics from the weekend:

I honestly thought I'd get a 5.0 the next go around, but this thing is a blast! Time to see what all the hocus pocus is about.

What happened to "I'm gonna keep this one for the long haul?" Congrats though, buddy. You still have a V6 under the hood, but turbos do a lot to compensate haha.

Do another 2" up front with 3" blocks out back and that'll look awesome.

JohnBoy88,

Congrats on the new truck! I'm here to answer any questions if you've got them. Just give me a shout if you need me.

Haha, I know man! It actually ended up being the "haul" that got me looking to upgrade. The 3.7 sure was impressive for a NA V6, but it really didn't like my 5,000 pound boat. And my 2wd with a open diff wasn't too fond of dragging it up slick boat ramps. It did the job, but it this'll do it better

Yessir! Luckily I already have my tires I want since I carried them over from my previous truck (toolbox as well). I do plan to level the nose out, and we'll see what happens from there!

You got that right! Even my old 2000 5.4 had limited slip. I never really had an issue with that diff.

By the way, this truck has both 4x4 and the E-locker. Isn't that a little redundant? The E-locker is a new concept to me. When would I ever need to use this if I have 4x4? Is there a particular situation where one is more applicable than the other? I'm gonna read my manual too, but thought some real world advice would be useful.

The locker is perfect for when you need just a little more traction, Like the boat ramp. Bet you with the EB and the E locker and your tires, you will never have to switch to 4x4 unless you drive it off in a deep rut or mud.

Ive used mine a few times and it sure works nice.. Cant imagine not having it now.. Where as when i got the truck i thought i would never use it.

I had the selectable locker on my old toyota tacoma, I might have used it 4-5 times in 10 years around the farm. Good thing to have, not necessarily a necessity
