2009 XL & a "real" bed

19,800 miles. Used locally mostly.......and seriously gets trashed. Yes, it's a work truck, with "official" vinyl flooring.

Q: those OEM hid's.....any good ? Since my 1st f150 purchased in '79, and it also
happens to be the only vehicle i've eber bought. My '09 represents the 9th or 10th consecutive back to back f150 [and everyone has been white]

Over three decades: Ford has NOT made any improvement on headlights

Now in me early 60's......those eyes of mine not so accurate at night. I figured
it would be worth the upgrade if I had enuff folks actually running them. And finding a major improvement.

I'd much rather go a simple OE route....rather than adding a 3rd party driving light.

The OEM HIDs are an outstanding upgrade to the halogens that Ford has been putting out. I would definitely recommend them. But I decided to have the projectors, bulbs, and ballasts upgraded. Ford did OK with the HIDs, but they could have done a lot better. Almost all properly done retrofits will outperform them.

Here is the output of the stock OEM HIDs:

And then here is after the EVoX-R projector, Osram 66240 Nightbreaker bulb, and 50W ballasts upgrade:

So you can see that the OEM lights lack any form of side to side lighting, which was my biggest complaint. The OEM high beam performance is pretty good though. The EVoX-R's are known for their high beam performance and still blow the OEM out of the water.

Sorry to rant...So yeah, OEM HIDs are a definite upgrade from halogens, but you can still have better.

il_duce fer Prez!!!

Very nice 'work truck', OP!

I'd love to have the vinyl floor. I don't know why Ford doesn't offer that as an option in ALL of their truck packages.

You've proved quite dramatically, what a pizz poor a job fomoco has done
with headlights. The light output in my '09 is absolutely NO better than my
first 150, purchased in '77-79.

Kinda funny they couldn't even get the HID to work properly. And a customer
off the street had to "school" them. Think they'll implement your upgrades ?
[NM= stoopid question]

My next 150's due in the next year or two......maybe by then ? A proper headlight ?
