Making a 2010 4.6 without tow package tow

I recently bought a 2010 xlt super crew with the 4.6. The truck didn't have a tow package so I'm adding the necessary parts (hitch, harness, trailer brake and tranny cooler).

Now it seems that the factory tow packages also came with an upgraded radiator. Do I need to upgrade mine also?

Most I will probably ever tow a handful if times a year is 3500 lbs.

Thanks!

You shouldn't need to upgrade the radiator.

Post no problem

Hi,
You could tow 5,000 lbs no problem. You'll put probably 300 to 400 lbs of hitch weight on the rear of the truck. So when you decide to get new tires go 1 step up in the tire load rating, should be on the sidewall.
Perry.

Turns out that any modification to the truck even if it's a ford oem part installed at a ford dealer could affect the power train warranty. I'll wait a year and a half till the power train is up and then add a tranny cooler then.

Probably won't upgrade the radiator either. If the trucks are good for 5000lbs standard then I'll be well under the capacity.
