2014....Loaded XLT or Base Model Lariat???

Looking at buying a new 2014, great deals out there, but still deciding on style. The two trucks both are Ecoboost with Max Tow and 5.5' bed SuperCrews, the difference are the trims.

First truck is a loaded XLT with Leather buckets, HID's, 302A package and all its goodies.

Second Truck is a base model Lariat with My Touch, Navigation, front bench(40/20/40) and Full power tow mirrors

Both are very close in price, just one is a little further to drive for. Just looking for thoughts, ideas and opinions on which one you would buy.

Thanks!

If it was me id go with the XLT.. Main reason is they usually offer more deals on the Xlt's compared to the Lariats. I got a quote for a 302a Xlt a month or so ago for 29k the closest Lariat was close to 35k.

Even though you say they are very close on price between the 2 you will be able to haggle more on the Xlt. Atleast thats the way it is here in Texas.

I went XLT and got more than I could of got on a FX4/ lariat. so when I looked at the lariat I noticed it had every thing the XLT did with out chrome pkg and it was 10 k moor. so that sealed the deal for me, but look and compare options as one might have something you want where as other one don't have that option. but XLT with 302A is a pretty dame nice truck!

But the OP is looking at 2 existing trucks that are already comparable in price.

So you need to compare the options and decide what you like better.

Do you tow alot? The Full Power Tow Mirrors would be very nice... they power fold and power extend, right? I have the manual tow mirrors (power adjust mirror angle only) and I usually forget to extend them when towing so then I have to stop and extend them.

Plus if they power fold you can fold them when you are in a parking lot or if you want to park in a garage.

Seats - do you prefer bucket seats or front bench? I have buckets on my XLT and I like them, but there are times I wish I had the option to put a 3rd person on the front seat. Right now I have 2 carseats in the backseat, so that means I can only take 3 adults (including me). It would be nice to be able to take the kids, my wife, and my parents somewhere at the same time and a front bench would give me that option.

You need to do a full comparison of the specs and decide what you like better. They quit building 2014s last Friday so there is not chance to custom order one.

Does the lariat have the HIDs? If yes, I'd pay an extra up to $2k for the lariat. I have an 06 XLT and would be more than happy with a new XLT too, but Lariats hold their value better and I feel it's a better buy if the price is comparable.

The only thing Lariats have that I'd want is leather, and because the XLT has it, it's a wash. If both have all the options you "need" and the price really is very close when it comes down to it, I'd get the Lariat for the value. Like Coy said though, they really tend to deal all day long on XLTs here in Texas, but not quite as much on the other ones. Don't know where you're at in the negotiation process.

Thanks for the opinions and thoughts, guys.

The Lariat doesn't have the HID's but I like the fact that it has the bench front seat.......my current 04 SCrew has it and does wonders for keeping the Lab in the back seat during drives.

I think I can swap a jumpseat into the XLT if I really feel the need for it, if I go with it. Yes I do tow quiet a few times a year, but always remember to extend my tow mirrors now. Though, having them power may be nice feature specially when parking.

The only thing I am hung up is the Lariat having dual climate control, My Touch system and heated leather up front. Are these thing really worth it? I mean I've made it this long without all that stuff, LOL!!

The XLT already has a spray in bedliner, side steps, better looking 18" wheels and HID's. All things I would need/like to to add to the Lariat.

I have no idea, pretty much figure I'll be happy with either truck. Just second guessing myself, HAHA!!

Dual climate I wouldn't care about, don't know what exactly My Ford Touch includes (but it has Nav), and I live in Texas, so heated seats don't mean anything to me haha. I like the big screen the Nav has, but I only use my phone for actual navigation. I'd see if the XLT has HD radio, cause that I actually love and would want. Most Nav units have it, if not all.

However, my opinion on what you just said is that it sounds like the XLT is better for you. And a few people on here have added the center jumpseats for about $300.
