Baking tail lights

Did some googling, havent found anyone that was successful at opening up factory 09-14 tails.

What's the scoop? Who has actually tried it? Good or bad?

From what I've read you have to cut them open. They aren't too expensive, I think I'd just buy a set of FX/Raptor tails for $120.

I knew my lazy negative attitude would inspire you to try it.

A few years ago I baked my tails on my 07 and broke one. Ended up having to buy another tail light, the stock tail assy was 5 bucks cheaper than a harley tail so I bought a regular one. I would of had to buy both if I went for the harley. Since you have a spare set to play with, try to separate them. But if you had to experiment on your tails I would just buy the harley/FX4 tails.

Fer when y'all break the set you have trying to bake them and not simply cut them open.

Seriously - this appears to be a purty good deal fer fresh 2014 components.

Guess I'll strike that from my list of things to do. I'm not cutting open tail light housings. Guess I'll just have to save some doe and buy the Fx4's.

I opened them up last week, Totally killed the lenses in a bad way. I think ive got a system that will work after killing both lights I was given.

Just need to find another set to play with since I don't want to risk killing the tails on my truck and be out of commission......

I cut mine open with a soldering iron. Was able to weld them back up after, then just a bit of silicone for good measure.

Unfortunately I was rubbing some polish off a week later and somehow cracked one. I ended up buy a new OEM set off ebay.
