2013 Fuel Mileage Update
As the parents of a new Calvary Scout, we recently made a couple trips to Fort Benning, GA.
We worked in some vacation time as well.
The average this trip was 19.4. This included a run through the Vicksburg battlefield, and probably 1.5 hours of sitting idling with ac, as well as a drive through Atlanta work traffic. The round trip was pushing 2,000 miles with all the extra curricular driving.

Two wheel drive, 3:55, stock size 18".
The pure highway portion had to be in the 21 range, which has been typical.
This was the average before the bulk of idling etc.
At 400 plus miles into the trip, 20.6 was average.
Lifetime including significant towing has hovered in the 18-18.5 range. Thankfully so far the truck has been trouble free.

Just bought my 2013 screw 4x4 with ecoboost.
After driving around town for a week, I was really happy with my 17mpg.
However, I just did a 600 mile trip all on the freeway and only got 15.5?
3.55 axle, stock suspension and tires. The only aftermarket thing I would think that would affect mileage is the tonneau cover.
Anyone else get worse highway mileage than city?

I get 21 mpg on straight hwy runs and average 17 on my daily commute..
I only get 10-11 mpg towing my travel trailer, but that's fine..
It's dropped my lifetime average mpg to around 16 (I've got about 3000 miles towing out of 20,000 total miles since Feb 2014).. I've left one of the trip odo's set since I drove off the lot when it had 56 miles on it..
It's getting much better mpg's than my old 97 with the 5.4 in it, that's for sure!
Love the 36 gallon tank too..

Had a 13 3.5 ecoboost 6.5 bed 4x4, the best it would do highway was 14.5. empty. Ford had it many a time and keep saying all within factory specs and nothing they could do. My 06 5.4 4x4 does 17 to 18 highway at 70 to 75. Got sick and tired of the ecoboost , and its gone. Won't have or recommend it. Jus my 2 cents ..Oh and towing our toyhauler would only do 4 - 4.5 ,but remember , ford said it was all ok
