console swap

Looking at changing out my center seat for the console this weekend. Anyone who has done this and has any words of advice? Only have had the truck for about 3 weeks and have hated the center seat/arm rest from day one. Truck is a 2014 supercrew.

Did the tonneau about a week after I bought the truck and love it compared to the fiberglass topper I had on the last one. Security may not be there but being able to roll it out of the way is great. Still need to tweak it a bit to get it sitting properly.

Have also added a du-ha underseat storage, tinted the windows, installed my gps and added a back up camera.

Only things left to do are add a command start and I'm thinking about getting a Garmin mechanic with ecoroute for the GPS. I'll throw up the pics once I get the console swaped in.

So much nicer, just have to take it to the carwash and vacuum the shavings out of it and clean it up. Havn't driven it yet but so much more comfortable for me just sitting there.

How was the install? Simple swap out? I've been tempted to switch my seat out too, that is, if I can find a decent priced center console. How is the height of the console compared to the seat? Just curious how it is for an armrest as well.

Wasn't a straight swap on mine as the holes need to be drilled and tapped, took me about an hour, hour and a half. Biggest pain was the power cable. As far as height its about the same height as the arm rest on the door, maybe a touch lower. The last truck I had that had a similar console, 2003, was the most comfortable truck I have had to date. If this comes close I will really enjoy it.

I had that folding console gizmo and a 60/40 seat on my old 97 and it was okay for the time, but when I got the 13 and it had the floor mounted one, that's was one of the top 3 things that sold me on it!!

Love mine and it's perfect for an arm rest.

I too can't stand the center seat. There's ZERO storage, which is crazy when you look at it with the lid closed you think, man there's gotta be a HUGE storage bin under there...

NOPE.

It's one of the few things that I absolutely do NOT like about my 2013.
