Vacation 2015. I love this Truck!
I have had my 13 EB all over the state of Texas in the 2 1/2 years of ownership and 52,000 miles.. I always brag about the Torque of this engine and now i will really brag on this truck.
We Left out Thursday Morning and started the long drive through Texas to Colorado Springs and battled a head wind the whole way and had the cruise set at 74 mph and the truck got 19.1 MPG. Filled up in Dalhart Texas and battled a strong head wind the rest of the way along with the mountains of New Mexico/ Colorado Border and came on to Colorado Springs. Pulled into Colorado Springs with 17.7 MPG.
Here's a few pics when we pulled up to the Cabin..

This truck pulls these mountain's effortlessly, It never drops out of 6th gear and holds its speed. There was numerous time's i passed other truck's and they were screaming up the mountain, the ol Eb just cruised effortlessly past them.
Friday we decided to head up Pikes Peak, Once you get half way up is when it really starts climbing, with switch backs until you get to the 14,000 foot peak. I ran up the mountain in 2nd and 3rd gear and a couple times when i would make the switch back, hit the throttle with it in manual 2nd and its would bark the tires, The last switch back near the top i did it in 3rd gear and once again it barked the tires.. This is at 13000 + feet.. Didn't seem like the truck was minding it one bit.
Coming down i put it in manual 1st and never touched the brakes until i was getting to the switch backs, Rpm was running anywhere from 3k to 4500 rpm. Got to the Ranger Station and they checked the brakes and they read 105 degrees.

Friday we went to Canon City to visit the Royal Gorge and coming back we decided to Take a Canyon Road up to Victor. This was a great drive! 25 to 30 miles of dirt with narrow roads and drop offs on both sides. It was a somewhat easy drive, only nerve racking part is the narrow one lane trails around the rock ledges or going in the tunnel's and hoping no one is coming the other way.

After climbing the canyon we headed back to the Springs. I figured the fuel mileage would be junk with all the climbing, idle times, slow driving up the canyon and city driving. Was surprised when i clicked on the MPG screen.

No, the train was there when we pulled up and the lines were horrible. Stayed about 20 mins up there and noticed the bike tour was about to ride down, so we went on down. Didn't want to follow bikes all the way down.

Made it to Lubbock before we grabbed aa hotel. Leaving Manitou Springs I filled up and when we got to Pueblo it was showing 26mpg. Great tailwind and down hill most of the way. After Pueblo the tail wind switched around to a head wind and dropped to 19.8 by Trinidad. Then got a little more help with the wind until we hit Texas and straight headwind all the way to Lubbock. Made it on one tank to Lubbock and finished it up at 18.9 and 476 miles on the tank. Doing the last 200 tomorrow
