Windshield Wiper Woes

Lately my windshield wipers started jumping and bouncing across my window. I tried 3 different "premium" blades and a set of cheapo and they all do it. I cleaned the window with glass cleaner with no luck. They seem to do it more at low speeds or stopped but also do it mildly at 60+ mph.

I use the rainx wiper fluid (orange stuff) and have used it in the past with great results on other trucks.

My truck is a 2013 STX

Anyone have any solutions???

Try claybar on your windows. Sounds like there is contamination on the glass.

RainX is great fluid, but it does build up and get gummy - it has to be thoroughly cleaned periodically.

FYI, I use Bosch Icon blades.

x2 on a claybar, i go a step farther and wax the windshield once a year.. Beads water and never have skipping blades. Maybe that's why i got almost 3 years out of my OEM blades.

I bought the Motorcraft brand blades from Amazon and they fit and work perfectly. IIRC they were only about $16. Bosch USED TO BE a top brand but now they're made in China and have an entirely different design and a different part number so I seriously doubt that they're as good as the originals. But they're still about $50 a pair IIRC! $50 for Chinese wiper blades? Nope! That's not happening!

Try bon-ami cleanser or bar keepers friend. They are both ultra fine cleansers that are safe for glass. And use a blue scotchbrite kitchen sponge scrubby (the blue is a finer grain than the green) with the cleanser, and scrub away like your grandma does with her lasagna pan after Sunday dinner. Trust me it works and they are cheap.

Rain x is great, but I've definitely noticed some wiper chatter when using it. As other said, try a clay bar and then maybe wipe with down with some isopropyl alcohol.

The Bosch icon blades are great. I've tried them all and they definitely seem to last the longest.

Not sure which Bosch blades you're speaking of, but the Icon seem just as good as they've always been. They're $16 per blade at Walmart.

I have the $24 per blade Icons on my DD and my truck, great wipers. If your wiper still do this after a thorough cleaning/waxing, I would assume a wiper motor issue.x

I've been having this same problem for years but the car wash I use puts RainX on every time, so that's probably not helping me.

Will try clay bar and keep fingers crossed!
