F-50 pulled out of a lake

Like the post says the truck is a paperweight at this point. But it's kind of interesting to watch it get pulled out of the water. I wonder if it was an insurance thing?

Either one of two things:

1. It almost looks like a pond excavation site. Possibly one of the workers or owner of the land accidentally lost control of the truck.
2. Someone drove it in the pond then claim that it was stolen.

All I can say, is if I found a truck in my pond, I'd be pissed. Not the fact that it was in there, but the fact of the fluids -- gasoline, oil, antifreeze, etc. I'd demand the insurance company to do an EPA certified clean up process.

It's interesting, because one of my friends who their father owns about 60 acres of farm land. He bought it from the farmer back in the early 90's. There was rumors around town, that the original owner of the land used to bury their old cars and trucks randomly on the land instead of sending them to the scrap yard.

So far he's found 2 pick up trucks that were used on the farm. Both buried in the middle of a field, about 15 or so feet down.

People sure do strange things...

My BIL lost 2 Chevy trucks, because he's a moron, at a local lake. One was a new Chevy 4x4 Extended cab. A really nice truck. He claims to have put the rig in park when launching his boat and it slipped out of gear. It ended up in 100ft of water and of course totaled the truck. They got the truck using divers and an oil field winch truck. The boat trailer was still attached. Did the same thing 2 years later with a company truck he used to pull his boat. His wife, my sister, said that's enough and she sold his boat. So far he hasn't managed to sink another truck. Of the thousands of times I launched a boat I never had the issue. I guess you have to be smart enough to put it in Park and set the brakes. On steep ramps I also carried chocks.
From the looks of the truck in the vid, someone went to a lot of trouble to get that truck that far out in the water. Just getting to water would have been an issue for most trucks. Looks like he would have hung up on the drop off before taking a swim.

I had just backed my boat trailer into the water when a front brake hose popped leaving me with only the rear brakes which are not much of anything. Talk about puckering up the cheeks!

Oops! Here you go. Looks like I wasn't firing on all cylinders there.

OK, that's super weird... Why would you go to all that trouble. Especially if you could get money for junking them?

I'm not sure. The dude has passed, so we will never know.

Likely he just didn't care... or thought it'd be funny someday. Who knows.

I'd never do that. Too much trouble, even if I had a rather large excavator at my disposal.
