The critics thought that because of all the new features, CGI, start stop, etc that the 2.7 EB would have a significant cost hit and cost more than the 3.5 EB. The critics would usually argue this whenever some would talk about the increased fuel econ and near 30 mpg ratings. They would try to claim they wouldn't surprised it would cost more than the 3.5EB and the 2.7L wouldn't be worth it, blah, blah, blah. I heard this mentioned several times on other forums. They were wrong.

I remember when it was just a package as well. More I learn about the newer trucks, it seems the less I want one. No limited slip differential, not liking the idea of ELD, the price, dropped the STX, (Not sure on painted bumper options right now, as I don't like chrome), and too much electronics.

You can still get the LSD in certain 2014 packages. Most of them involve the 3.7L V6. I think you can get a lariat ecobost with it. Everything else is open or ELD. Being a techie, you would think I would like all this tech they put into vehicles nowadays. Sadly, it is just the opposite. Costs too much to fix when the crap goes bad.

On Lariat you can only get limited slip with the 2014 HD Payload package. I see limited slip on some of the lower trims so you are right on the 2014. I don't see what the big deal with is in not liking the new tech. Specially with a Sport (stx) you can just not order the tech packages. Seems more like a "back in my day" kind of argument than it being about breaking stuff.

With pricing like that, and mind you I totally understand business needing to be profitable, but I can guarantee I will be holding on to my 2004 XLT 4x4 for years to come unless I either have a ginormous financial breakthrough, or somebody else (idiot drivers) force me into replacing my truck...
Don't get me wrong, I could totally go for a brand new shiny truck with all the latest tech, but those prices hurt...

Yeah I liked the LSD on my 2004 way more than the open diff on my 2013. I would even prefer LSD over ELD since the LSD is way more useful on snowy roads. It was just more predictable. If ELD was so great, why did the heavies go with LSD only? LSD is now gone since the 10.5" rear is gone on the new trucks
