I am ordering a new F-150 (after 12 years w/a SD)

I am excited to get this done. I tried using the Ford.com site, but it didn't work well.

It's time for a new truck. I am not really wanting to go to a dealer, and I would like to order it online.

I have the specs but how to I finish the deal?

Congrats on deciding to take the plunge, 95cobraR! Vehicles can be purchased through any of our dealerships. Find one near you by entering your ZIP code here: http://www.ford.com/dealerships/locate Once you place your order, PM me your order number and dealer name/location; I'll provide you with weekly updates on the status of your truck.

Crystal

Federal law states that manufacturers may only sell new vehicles to a licensed dealer.

Yes and no - http://my.teslamotors.com/sv_SE/foru...esla-sell-cars

I have to correct my previous post - it's state laws. However, even in the states that permit it, nobody but Tesla is doing it.

I thought it was something like that. I'm not sure what the laws are here, North of the border but they sell direct here in BC.
Yeah, it seems Tesla is going "against the grain". I think the dealer networks are there for a reason. Curious to see what Tesla does in 4-5 years time.

Bottom line - doesn't matter where you are, Ford will not sell a vehicle direct to a buyer, they will only sell to franchised Ford dealers. I believe the only exception is government sales.

I am good with that. I just want to do a deal on the internet.

I do my research and then know more than a salesman. Why do I have to suffer with this process?

Crystal,
It doesn't work that way for me. I need a firm price for the truck (it was $65K MSRP).

I'll decide to proceed further and then offer a trade-in. If no trade-in, I'll buy the truck then.

Zip = 30350.

You have to work with a dealer to get a firm price. You can do that with most dealers via email if you prefer.

And, OP, you might want to wait a few days to send that email. Ford set to launch huge sale next week...

PS You can also search dealer lots on http://www.forddirect.com

You aren't going to get a sale price on a ordered vehicle.

You are not going to get a firm price on a order online, you have to go haggle with a dealer unless you qualify for A, X, or Z plan - and even with those you have to go to a dealer.

Thanks. I'll look into that.

I ordered my last truck by talking to a guy at the dealership (he may have been the owner).

I just want to order a truck and agree on a price online. My bank will wire them a deposit. How hard can this be?

You need to look at trucks on the lot if you want a quick good deal.

If you want to order then it will probably be at their terms.

On the lot will probably be a truck that meets your specs and needs. If it wasn't for dealers then the whole car buying thing would be a waste. It took me 10 minutes to find what I wanted and didnt even test drive it. Just wanted to make it go fast incase they thought they couldnt do a fair deal on an f150, not like its a lamborgini. There is more than one dealer in town.

There are only so many option packages you can choose from. Not a whole lot.

Good luck.

Are you unable to visit a dealer? I highly doubt that you can ORDER a vehicle from a dealer without physically being there to do the paperwork. You may be able to buy an in-stock vehicle by dealing with the Internet sales manager via email, but not a special order.
