After hearing a lot of good things on this board as well as elsewere on the internet I finally bought an ID10 v.3 D4. It has dual 4 ohm voice coils which from my understanding should be wired in parallel with a 2 ohm load from the amp at anywhere from 50-400 RMS.

What amp would you stereo guys suggest for me to mate with this subwoofer? I am not looking for competition quality top of the line stuff, but I do want a good amp. Price is an issue, but I refuse to buy a low quality product such as lightning audio and what not.

So and suggestions?

You know I'm going to do it...I recommend a Zapco 500.1 or a C2K 3.0.

Lol, if money is an issue that might be a little much for him

Funny thing though, last night I was thinking since Im going with all new stuff when I get a different truck (hopefully soon) I might as well go with Zapco if I can swing it. A 500.1 and 750.2 would be nice.

Lets see though....back on topic....and I cant think of anything right now that does 400ish watts at 2 ohm. Hmmm, brain fart.

You know, the reference line (or even the AG line) of Zapco can be had pretty cheap, especially if you buy used. Heck, I bought all of my Zapcos used...it's probably the only way I could afford them, especially the 9.0 beast! LOL

Dconder recommends Arc Audio..those are great amps too! Zeff has the SE (signature editon) amps that look pretty cool!

The only downside to Arc is that they do not make an amp in the XXK series that is good for 300-500 watts at 2 ohm. My 5150XXK does 200 watts on the sub channel at 2 ohm. And a 1500 does 1,000 watts. Not much in between. A Zapco would be nice. Also, a JL 250/1 would do very nice. I ran my IDQ 10 on one for a while.

Yup, I think that is the only way I could afford them too.

Id go for Arc too, but I dont come across used ones much, and if I do they either want more than its worth, or its all beat up.

I take that last comment back-I was checking stuff out on eBay dreaming up my next system, and they all seem to be much cheaper than I remember, which got me thinking:

Front stage:
ACS 265 comps, ran active on a XXK 4150

And in the bass department, four ARC 10's ran by a XXK 1500

Eclipse HU, or an older Alpine (9831, 33, or 35) to run it all.

I like the setup, seems pretty cool.

Oh yeah, I saw a Zapco 9.0 like yours on Ebay too, for a starting bid of only 950 dollars. Heh, yeah, Ill skip on that

Between these two setups which would you guys go for? I am not limited to these two but I know xtant makes a good product and I have heard good things about Phoenix Gold.

Xtant 121M
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1
Phoenix Gold Xenon 400.1
http://cgi.ebay.com/PHOENIX-GOLD-X40...QQcmdZViewItem

By the way Cardomain claims my ID10 handles 400 RMS while the Image Dynamics website claims 250...What do you guys think/know about what you have seen these subs handle?

I went ahead and bought the Phoenix Gold for anyone that is wondering (I know you have all been on the edge of your seats for some time *sarcasm*).

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWN:IT

I got it for $124 after shipping and an ebay coupon for 10% off. Not too bad IMHO.

Now the question is where should/can I mount this baby without moving my jack?

Sounds like a pretty nice deal on that PG. They arent to bad of amps

Check out behind the seat back on the back wall of the cab for a mounting spot. There are quite a few of us that have our amps mounted back there. Nice place for them. Out of site, dont take up any room being used, and there is plenty of room back there.

Does it get enough air back there? No overheating problems?

PG Xenon amps are one of the most overlooked amps around, especially the onyx series. Looks like you found a good deal too.
