A bit of Freshening(new pics added 8/20/09)

So Yesterday I went to work on my bumper valence and my Wiper cowl. I tried to keep both black, but it was getting fustrating trying to blacken it each wash. A never ending battle. So I decided to paint my lower valence with and my wiper cowl. I used Krylon Fusion and Krylon clear. It seems to be holding up well and the truck looks much better. Now for the pics
Faded

Masked off very thoroughly. Some during pics

And the finished Cowls installed

I think little things like these clean up the trucks and make them much neater.

Looks great. Just a thought, it would have taken you much less time to take out the 10-12 screws on the bottom of that valence then to tape all that off.

Thanks a lot guys I tried to take off the valence, but I could not get it off at all. I couldn't even loosen the bolts, so I decided to tape it. Not bad though for what it is. I am playing with the idea of masking off around my door handles and tailgate and paint the handle surrounds but not the handle part you grab. I plan on eventually putting chrome handle strips on them.

I was considering using some of the Mothers Back to Black on outside black plastic but some here said it is not that great. Yesterday I wiped down my black plastic mirror bodies, rubber around windows and bed rails with Armor All. WOW! Seems to stay nice.

I think if you start this before they get real faded and white it works better and lasts longer. Gonna do the black valance and cowl after next wash. Also some under hood items as well.

Yeah that is true, but I bought the truck used a few months back so it was out of my control. I like yourself, did that (B to B and Armour-All) but after a while the constant maintence gets aggrivating. This prevents maintence for some time if you take care of it and keep some sort of protectant on it.

I think about painting the trim everytime I am out there working the back to black in. It's a PITA to deal with everytime you wash. I might paint mine soon. Yours turned out great.

Nice work man. Kinda surprised you couldn't get the valance off, I had to replace mine and it was a PITA job due to the locations of some of the bolts, and in my case the addition of fog lamp removing, yours must be torqued on pretty good. I was going to say stone driveway, lay on back to remove, yeah masking it would be better .

John looks great bro. Let me know how it holds up in this New England weather. I may have to jump on the bandwagon.
