DIY mirror cap painting or not?

Anyone have some tips?

I'm picking up some 09 F150 mirrors off a member here and his are painted a different color, and I need them black. I'll have to either have the caps painted or DIY paint them.

How much a PITA would this be to DIY paint? Would it be better to have a shop do this? I wouldn't think it would cost much to have done.

Thanks.

Just find the right paint and DIY. I plan on doing mine when it gets warmer.

if you're steady you can spray bomb it. Atleast get a nice attachable trigger for the spray cans.

Or on the flip side you know i can get you hooked up

I did mine and they came out great. It's all in the prep. Sand prime until they're very smooth. Sand the base coats lightly. Clear, lightly sand and repeat. Mine look great for DIY and I took my time.

Excellent, - great job! - Well, you know exactly how to get one.

When you mentioned sanding between the clear. That's what makes a major difference in the outcome. Most just tack, - as they don't know any better.

You can do it yourself. Like others I've had great experience with stuff from automotive touchup. Their clear sands and buffs out great, as well as the base coats! Since its already painted I dont think you really need primer....just scuff it and go from there.

Yeah they're already painted so it should be pretty simple, just have to find the paint and supplies.
