i plan on doing this, this weekend and was wondering if im going for a flat black look, would it be better to use duplicolor or rustoleum or does it matter? does one stick better then the other, or have a better look?

I don't think it would matter. You could try a matte black. I'd say don't use clear coat to prevent giving shine......but then you risk having to repaint if it doesn't hold up.

After two Snowbelt winters they have held up pretty well. They need an occasional touch-up (just a quick spray here and there) but overall I am very pleased that I painted them.

SO...hows everyones holding up??? I just bought a Ford Focus for a commuter car and want to do this to it. They are alloy wheels though. Would the same process work??? I want a semi gloss look, should i use matte and clear coat or Semi gloss and no clear coat??

Thanks

On a painted/clearcoated wheel would it be advisable or possible to use the Duplicolor Paint stripper to get it down to bare aluminum?

I like how you didn't paint the lugs. It looks good! Did you just tape them off? If I do this, I plan on doing the same thing and masking off the oval as well. Anyone with some insight on how well the paint is holding up?

may try this myself, just got a 2000 f150, and has the stock chrome rims.... wondering now how they would look blacked out... always liked flat black though or Gunmetal... may have to try it using the chrome painting method from the other how-to...

but does anyone know if this still holding up now? or has this truck been replaced? Living in Eastern Canada, and our winters get harsh, so just wondering if this is worth the time and energy since our governments use alot of salt and sand on the roads to keep em safe.
