Yes it would work.

Just rememeber no tags, and check the threads in the edges of the towels, most are poly, not cotton.
You don't want to drag poly over the paint.

Me thinks that mom might not be too happy with you wrecking one of her new towels, by cutting the edges off of it.

My other guess, the towel cost more then the 1.97 wash mitt mentioned above. We are talking 2 bucks here.

How much did you spend on the truck, and you don't want to part with 2.00 to wash it ?
Where do you get your soap and wax at ? ( please don't tell me you use mom''s dawn soap on it every time )

I'm not a cheapscate, I was just joking around. Any idiot who can't spend $2.00 to keep there truck nice, well somethings wrong Mom doesn't mind me using a few of her towels to wash Dad's Truck, not mine ('02 F250 4x4) Mine is a 91, not worth using a cotton mitt anymore, lol. Tks guys for the help

I was just asking to see if it was ok to use the towels because if they are truly 100% cotton then what's the point of getting a cotton wash mitt. But if the cotton wash mitt is better to use then I will go with just that. Tks again everyone

If I can just add to Harley's suggestion....

You could grow the cotton yourself, then you could go pick it yourself too, and this might save you even more $$.

Just trying to help a fellow brother out!

Remember if your buying a 100% cotton towel make sure it is made in the USA. Other "100%" towels from overseas are NOT always 100% cotton. ONLY trust towels made in the USA with the tag that states 100% cotton to be real. You want BRAND name

Here is some professional advice from Zainobros.com :

"The rule of thumb is to use high quality Brand Name large bath towels (Cannon or Fieldcrest) that say 100% cotton and made in the USA. Towels sold in bags in Auto Stores are not 100% cotton. Look carefully on the bag it will probably say made in Pakistan or Bangladesh or other foreign country. Do not use these towels. They will cause swirl marks and scratches on the paint surface. Always, remove the stitching around the towel prior to use. Bargain store polish applicators also contain polyester and nylon fibers and are not to be used. Also, when washing your towels, please do not use any type of fabric softeners. Always use White towels. Do not use Colored Towels they contain dyes."

I use the Cannon towels. I can tell you that you are not going to buy any Cannon or Fieldcrest towels for just a buck or two, I'd say plan on spending at least $4 - $8 per towel and I would recommend at least 2 - 3 towels for drying only, and another 2 - 3 for removing polish/wax, so thats about 4 - 6 towels, looking at maybe $25 - $50 for towels "IF" you want to use the right equipment and do a proper job.

Does it make any difference if there colored or not??? In the zaino site somewhere, it says don't use colored towels as they contain dyes. Is this something i should really worry about, errrrr should I ????

Myself I only use white. I really can't tell you what would happen if you use colored ones.

Intel would be able to tell you why or why not.

Prowax has some nice MF towels, unfortuntely some of there lines of towels are discontinued I think there MF towels go for about $4.95 a piece. I am going to restart my detailing business this spring and summer, I would really like get some of Pro's detailing equipment prior to when I start opening. Here's my list so far of Pro stuff:

1.) C-19 Cherry Suds

2.) Clay Away 4

3.) P-26 Clear Cut Compound (only used when necessary)

4.) P-21 Swirl Eliminator & Polish

5.) P-35-H Satin Creme

6.) S-74 (clay lubricant)

7.) P-73-Q Paint Sealant

I'm still not sure yet what I want yet for interiors, All purpose cleaners, degreasers etc... This is my list so far and it's getting really expensive as of now, LOL

here. 100% cotton Viking wash mitts. I have done the ultimate test with them.

http://www.partsamerica.com/ Item # 990310

Might want to get a bunch of them at a time. These are hard to find (and I hope since i'mgiving this out they don't go outta stock.

Here's how to test if a mitt is 100% coton?

Get some cotton (off the plant) take out the seed, and light it on fire in a picece of alumnium foil. Then take a picec of a wash mitt (the part that touches the car) and burn it over a different piece of alumnium foil. Compare the results. Cotton burns into ashes like wood. Plastics (polyrpoproline, polyester ect...) burn into a sludge, gooey, yellowish, brown mess.

Always keep safe with fire.

Rock on!
