Rearview mirror removal

I would like to move to rearview mirror higher on the windshield. It always seems to be in the way and at times has actually hidden other cars from view.

Anyone know how to get the clip that is attached to the windshield off? It should just be glued on right?

There is a special tool for removal of the mirror. When I needed mine removed I took it to the dealer and they had it off in less then five minutes. I suppose you could purchase the tool but since my dealer was willing to do the job at no cost I let them do it. I also didn't forsee needing to tool again so I couldn't see a reason to purchase. The tool sure does make the mirror removal an easy job.

Clip removal

When I talked to the local windshield/glass shop they said to heat it up with a lighter (low flame only on the metal part) until it starts to move a little, then take a razor blade and scrape it off the windshield. Worked like a charm for me.
