I think Zaino is more of a JLP than a JDM

Tuner Wax Wars.

I'll leave the comments, they would offend the Zaino'ers.

Everything I do is by hand... I'm scared to death of an orbital. Too many horror stories of skortched paint and swirl city. I'm sure it can be done right but, until I start doing this professionally, I'm sticking with elbow grease.

RockPick:

So you’re a bufferphobic like Harley and I huh?

So do you get as good of shine by doing it by hand as if you had did it with a buffer? That’s the main reason I use Zaino. When I tried other brands of waxes/polishes they looked good, but not as good as someone that used it and used a buffer with it. Of course maybe I just didn’t do as good by hand as others may do by hand buffing.

I used a buffer a long, long time ago on a 79 Camaro Z28 400 small block built (420hp) I had bought from a friend of my dad’s. Had a beautiful $3,000 paint job on it. Needless to say I completely fu*ked up the paint with the buffer. I did eventually get it repainted but NEVER used a buffer since.

I use to think I was the only bufferphobic, then I learned that Harley was, and now you. Damn we should start a support group…

You might want to check what the goof was using when the horror story was developed. A direct drive or DA buffer. These kind of remind me of the new runor that once the top end limiter is reached, all you have to do it punch the gas 3 times, and it is by passed ( which is BS incase you were scratching your head ).

It is just about impossiable to damage the paint with a DA buffer. You would need to have a de-ox pad on it, and run it with dirt in it to damage the paint.

I have been using a Cyclo dual 4" DA buffer for quite a few years now. Just like the hand applicators, you need to take care in cleaning your buffer pads. DeWalt and Portor Cable also make single pad DA buffers.

Once you put polish on with a DA buffer, you'll never go back to hand again.

Stop sitting down to pee, and get a buffer before you damage your rotator cuff.

RP,

You're missing out, if your not using an orbital polisher like the PC to apply waxes and especially polishes. Like SSCULLY said, it's almost impossible to do any damage with an orbital polisher. The orbital is especially nice for applying moderate to light polishes, and applying even coats of wax.

Now, a rotary polisher is another story altogether. The rotary polisher should be left to a seasoned pro, or somebody with a lot of experience.

Besides............... Barry "recommends" the use of an orbital polisher!
