Spray Wax

I have been seeing some of the spray on wax products being offered at local stores (Autozone, O'Reilly's etc)...

Wondering if they are even worth the money...

At one time I found it easy to wax 4-6 times/year... now I'm struggling to get 1-2/year in.

Eagle One makes a spray on wax, Meguiar's makes one as well (which dries to a haze, and you buff off).

I'm now using Meguiars #26 as my main wax, but again, often don't find time to wax...

Any thoghts/experience on using these products when in a rush, and can I use them over top of existing Meguiars #26?

Dan

If you're a #26 user (as am I along with PPP), I don't think you're going to like the 'Quick Wax' products but, from a standpoint of knocking out a wax job in no time flat, it might not be a bad product. I just wouldn't expect it to last NEARLY as long as your #26 or offer nearly the protection.

I suppose you could consider it more of a 'maintenance wax' rather than one that you would use to protect.

I haven't heard anyone at www.autopia.org that is impressed with any of the spray waxes. I ahve never used #26, but Gold Class isn't the easiest product to use. Maybe look into a sealant like Meg #20 or Zaino which only needs to be applied 2-3 times per year. Or, an easier wax to apply/remove. I use S100 right now and I can put on/take off a coat of S100 on my ext cab truck in about 20 minutes.

Why not look for a wax that lasts longer so you don't have to do it as often or a wax that is easier to apply and buff off?

Check out Klasse Sealant Glaze. Do three coats over a three day period and that'll last you probably 6 or 7 months.

If you want a wax that is easy to apply and buff off, then look at Coat's Cherry Wet wax or Poorboy's Polish w/ Carnauba. They are both incredibly easy to buff off compared to #26.

If you're using Quick Detailer.... you should really try the Professional series Mirror Glaze version...

Final Inspection...

I think it's alot better... (even though, I agree, QD is excellent).

The Quick Wax products aren't bad "on top of" a good coat or regular wax, but, on their own, they don't hold up well. By far and away, the best "Quick Wax" product I've ever used was S100 Detail & Wax Spray (Made by P21S). It's got great canauba (P21S) and some beeswax in it.

A lot, and I mean a lot of the Motorcycle boys use this stuff at shows. It's really, really nice, but a bit pricey!

Some waxes you can feed through a paint gun and spray it onto your vehicle. A lot of high production car places use it.

I've been meaning to get an air gun and a gallon of DetailPlus' Diamond Shield to try it out. Once I get a trailer I'm going to carry an air compressor so I could potentiall use this to wax cars.

Of course S100 and P21S go on so quickly and buff off so easily it might not actually increase the speed I detail.

I agree, it doesn't take much longer to put on a coat of P21S, then it does to apply a spray wax, with a lot more "POP"! I also understand that Poorboys new EX is another product that goes on and comes off so easy, that it doesn't pay to use a spray wax.

I use Eagle1 Wax-as-you-dry. It's pretty good. I use it about every 4 truck washes.

You can use Meguiar's website to locate a dealer but, I've found that I run into it in more places than what the site says.

I've seen it at: Pep Boys, a few different marine shops, Napa, and a couple of autobody paint shops.

Generally speaking, the only products that I've seen at Autozone or Advanced were the #26 and/or #9. (and maybe a #7). AZ and AD seem to sell more of the 'consumer line' (ie: Quick Detailer etc) instead of the Mirror Glaze products.

Best of luck.
