Meguiar's question

5/8/03

Got a question for the Meguiar's users...

I recently used Meguiar's #9, followed by a couple coats of #26.. and quite pleased...

I did the wash down with Dawn, and a clay job as well...

My question... I'm noticing a few additional areas that I would like to go back over with #9... Do I have to re-wash with Dawn, to apply more #9, or can I just go over the wax I've already laid down?

Thanks
Dan

I've done the same thing several times...

Just go back over with the #9. The polish will remove the wax and thus, once you're done with the new #9 treatment, you'll have to go back over it, yet again, with more #26.

Hope that helps.

#26 is some good stuff. Use it on your windows (except your windshield) Keeps them very clean...

windows?..try Stoners 'invisible glass' on a twice application then let it evaporate and use Rain-X...no more spotted glass...tip;be extremly careful when your doing the doors if you have tinting..the Stoners will screw up the tint if it gets over to the back side of the glass where the tint is

I'll have to try that Stoner's invisible glass stuff. This Tennessee water leaves spots all over my truck, especially the windows everytime I wash it. Thanks for the tip!

Being the Meguiars buff that I am, I've NEVER tried that. Hrrm. Sounds like a damn good idea!

I heard that Dawn is a good "wax-stripping" wash, but doesn't damage the paint...

I hope Intel/RockPick, others will verify this for me...

But now that I got some good wax on, I'm using Cherry Suds.. Yummy smell.

Some dish detergents can harm paint. Dawn is really one of the safe ones, though I feel its use has become way too popular. People are using it when they really don't need to.

I'm hoping there's more than 1 kind of Stoner's Invisible Glass, 'cause the can I'm looking at here says it is safe for tint ?? That's why I bought it... (And used it !)

TexfordD, does your can say it is safe for tint? If so and it screwed up your tint, please let us know.

My tint seems to be OK right now. Did it take a while before it messed yours up ?

Thanks !!!!

I appreciate the kind words there Dan but I'm definately not on the same level as Intel. He does detailing for a living and surpasses me by far and away.

I do agree with him though. The whole 'DAWN' regime seems excessive and seems overused.
