Removing FX4 decal

Anybody ever use a heat gun and Goof Off to remove their decals?

Just wondering if the goof off will hurt the finish.

Best way to do this is to wait for a nice sunny day. Park with the decal facing the sun.(rotate when done, or do the otherside the next day)
It usually will pull off.

Now then. For rapid removal. Use the heat gun, and or 1500w hair drier. DONOT leave in one place too long. Peel back sticker as you go.(finger tips get hot)

I don't know about goof off on paint. If you have any left over sticky stuff, use WD-40 on rag and wipe. Wash and wax area when done and cool to the touch.

On my last truck with 4X4 stickers the sunny day trick worked best. No work involved.lol

well everyone has there own ways of doing stuff but wWD-40 and paint =bad idea. might as well toss break cleaner on it.
goof off is much fafer for your painted surface and works just as well with a bit more ellbo grease. keep somthing in mind though befor you do this. depending on the age of your truck. your going to see a color difference when you take off the decal that you wont beable to just wipe off. alot of prep.buffing and polish should make it less noticable though

Goof off is pure xylene, nasty stuff. It is sold as a remover old latex paint, which is does by gumming it up. IMO I would not take the chance of using this chemical on automobile finishes.

Never had a problem with the WD-40.

Anyway, there is a 3M product that is made specially for adhesive/sticker/tape removal. Don't know the name, but it may be available at the local auto paint store.

Know what you mean amp. Tipical case of been there done that, but why do it the easy way.

In Socal there is presently no sun, so the sunny day easy way is out.

Have a great weekend all.
