touch up paint question
For touch up paints that come with the basecoat and a clearcoat, is there some necessity to apply the clearcoat soon after the basecoat (i.e. is the basecoat somehow weakened by not having the clearcoat on top of it?). The instructions say to apply the clearcoat 30 minutes after the touch-up paint, but I would rather wait the 30 days required before waxing, wax it and get the scratch and touch up base a little smoother, then put on a light layer of clearcoat.
Also, what's the best way to get stray marks of touch up paint off of the regular paint job? I'm presuming since the touch up paint is solvent based, some sort of solvent would do it, but then again isn't the regular paint on your car solvent based? I certainly don't want to take the original paint off my car. Any suggestions?
