The infamous door crack
As of right now, I still have my 2000 F150. It was leased and I had it final inspected yesterday so that they can come and get it. Well, I went to clean it up a little bit so it would not look so dirty and that is when I noticed it. This is also the first time that I noticed it, but there was the door crack plain as day on the door at the back of the drivers side window. It was the first time that I had ever seen the door crack in person. Luckily, soon the truck will be in the lease companies posession, so I am not even going to worry about it.

My 2000 F150 has this door crack. Dealer told me it would cost $300 to get it fixed (I have 46000 miles on truck) I read article here about Ford replacing doors. Does anyone know what if anything they are doing about it? I talked to customer service and they sounded shocked about the crack. Most trucks are getting this crack and it's obviously a defect. I'm starting to wonder if a class action lawsuit may be the way to go. I just want them to fix my truck and fix it right.

Shows a pick of the crack.
I had the drivers door repaired and then a preventative kit put in the passenger side over a year ago. Neither have the cracks in them now.......knock on wood

Runner,
From what I can tell on the door and from talking to them they did the following
Welded the crack on the door
Installed the repair kit on the inside part of the door. It required painting the door on the drivers side after it was done. The passenger side didnt require paint afterwards. I checked it when I got home and yes they had put a block of some sort in the passenger door. I now have a updated door on the passenger side due to an accident shortly after they did the above(it only needed a new skin but got a new door ). It has a different design to it and a slightly different molding to it also.
My body shop was fully aware of the crack issue and also new of the TSB on it so it was a no hasssle fix. Mine was under warranty at the time but my buddy with a 99 and 53,000 miles on it had his fixed free also under some kind of deal with them.

Here is a picture that I took so that the people that may not have seen it first hand can see it. My camera is not the best out there so the picture isn't very good, but you can still see the crack. Also from what I have heard, I believe it was with the 01's that they fixed the problem. but could be wrong.
All I am doing now with the truck is waiting for the lease company to come and pick it up, then I won't have to worry about it anymore.

As much hell as my wife puts my doors through by getting in and out of my truck, it's a wonder that I don't have full breaks in my doors from where she's slamming them all the time.
What is it with ANYONE that rides in my truck getting in and out they have to SLAM the hell out of the door? I think it's programmed into the females' genes.
