Unhappy Parts you have had bad luck with.

Just curious, and I couldn't find anyplace better to post this. It seems like for each person, ther is some area in their life where they are cursed. For instance, I have had bad luck with paint, alternators and windshields through the years, but pretty good luck with engines, trannys and other parts. What parts have seem to consistently go bad on y'all?

Brakes. I can kill brakes like its open season.

Even my new truck, zt just over a year of ownership, is starting to take longer to stop than it used to and I am going to have to have it checked out.

I don't know if its my driving habits or just a curse. But my old 95 Thunderbird went in for a front brake rebuild every 1,500 miles. (The work was always under warranty from the last rebuild so I only paid for the first one.)

pw1981:

Why don't you try only using your brakes when needed, if you just need to slow down slightly then just take your foot off the gas and believe me, your truck will slow down pretty quickly.. I'm somewhere around 15,000 miles and no where near needed new brakes, or brake maintinance, and I have no wrecks or tickets on my record.

Was that on certain type of truck or just in general? If in general where does it leak? I have had no problems but having some info in case is nice. Thank you very much for any and all assistance...

Has anybody noticed how badly the rear window seal fits on the 2000's? I'm talkin about the whole window, and not the ones with the sliding rear window specifically. I noticed mine while washing it one day, and it looked really bad, but never leaked. I went and looked at some others on the lot after finding it and many of them looked bad. None were perfect. Apparently, they got it corrected though because my 2002 has a good looking seal around it.

I've always had bad luck with the factory AC unit in every vehicle I've ever owned.

It still works great in my current truck, but I am confident once I reach the end of my warrenty, the compressor will take a dump.

Mainly the brakes: Bad master cylinder, warped rotors (under normal driving conditions), worn out pads, and a bad parking brake ratchet assembly.

All the 97-2001 models had that particular design. Because of both the persistant leaky rear glass and the overall appearance, Ford replaced that design with what you've referred to as the 2002 version... both the 02 and 03 ended up with that design... and my 01 because I had it replaced under warranty!

I have an 01 and the seal on mine looks fine, like it fits perfect. I never had a problem with it. Did perhaps they make changes that affected some of the 01's?
