door crack question

What will happen if the crack is not fixed? Will it eventually spread across the door, cause other problems, or what?

Sorry about the smart reply in the other thread.

This link has most the info
Door Crack

My '98 has the door crack. Never had it fixed.Never got any bigger.

I suppose it could rust, or allow water in. In most cases people rush to get it fixed because they spent a lot on their truck and are angry that such a thing happened. Pesonally, I bought my truck used and use it for the purpose for which it was intended (towing/hauling) and my idea of a mod is a new pinetree air freshener, so I really don't care. The info in the thread can probably get you some relief from the dealer:some got new skins, some had the dealer go half etc.

Good Luck

I don’t have a door crack so no experience. However I would think it could possibly cause problems down the road like flafonman mentioned, water maybe getting in causing rusting in side the door, and the crack could also get bigger. I think it would be best to get it repaired to be safe.

Hey 01,
I fixed the crack in my 2000! I may be silly, but, I bought an '03. With the '04's coming out, I couldn't pass it up. Brand new truck, warranty again, and $90 cheaper a month. It also has the 5.4 this time!

LMAO... That's one way to repair a door crack.

Same here, I have a 97 with the crack and it was getting to be such a runaround with Ford that I gave up the ghost. I use my truck for off-road purposes all the time, though, so it's the least of my worries as far as looks. I really would like to have it fixed, but I wouldn't pay for it, it doesn't seem like that big of a deal.
