Tailgate Scratches

All right detailing experts, I need some help. I finally had the time (and weather) to detail my truck this past weekend. Came out really well, except I noticed quite a few "fine" scratches on my tailgate. One of them I already knew about, so I wasn't surprised with that. But a few others are brand new and I want to take them out. They aren't really deep but black paint tends to show off everything. So, what is the best way to take out small scratches?

Oh yeah, I tried Scratch-X, seemed to help at first, but it didn't do as well as I had hoped.

Meguiars # 82 Dual Action Cleaner polish by hand should work better for you. Then follow up with some wax.

Just a piece of advice.

Next time your girlfriend is chasin you down the road,
stop the truck and face her like a man!

DACP is EXCELLENT stuff as APT has mentioned but, if you don't have access to a Meguiars reseller, you probably won't be able to come up with it.

Sometimes, depending on where you are, Meguiars #9 swirl remover is available at some autoparts stores (ie: autozone).

Just another option... all are great products but, if the scratch-x didn't take out your scratches, I'm not sure that the #9 will either as it's slightly less abrasive... the DACP might be the way to go...

APT or RockPick,

Is this the stuff you're talking about?
http://www.premiumautocare.com/meduacclpo.html

Do you know of anyplace else to buy it? I've seen #9 up at Autozone, but never the #82 dual action polish.

Thanks.

look in the bussiness pages of your phone book or just ask a body shop where they get thier paint supplys...here in Dallas one of them is English Color...located over off Harry Hines and another on Ave. K and Plano Pkwy....they carry all the Mequires lines and will also custom mix a pint or Quart of paint for doing touch ups or larger areas where an air brush can come in handy

That is the stuff! To see if you can find the stuff locally, go to Meguiar's site: http://www.meguiars.com
The do a search in the "Dealer Locator"
Search for "Professional Products" in your Zip.
You may find a Automotive paint dealer in your area that carries the DACP (and all the professional line).

Just like Boss mentioned... check out www.meguiars.com . They have a dealer locator that you can use to potentially locate the product.

Worst case scenario, you can order it from PAC or meguiars.com.

Napa carries Meguiars professional line I believe. If you have a Sherwin Williams automotive store, they can get in a day it if not stocked.
