Angry can't get my tailgate open

I have a 98 Ranger, I also recently installed a rail system tonneu from Autozone. It's not a low profile tonneau but it just sits on top of the bed and it's held down by 6 clamps, 3 on each side of the bed. My problem is I can't open my tailgate, not unless I really give tailgate a good yankin' like I want to rip it off or something, lol I got it open once when I just finished my tonneau and was testing it out. I went to haul some junk to the local dump but I couldn't get my tailgate to open. Do I have to roll it up and then open the tailgate, sounds silly???? Any way I can prevent my tailgate from getting stuck onto the tonneau????

What brand of tonneau do you have? Snaps or not?

Maybe the back end of the tonneau is getting caught on the top of the tailgate. I had the same problem when I first bought mine. "Try unloosening the tonneau with the 6 clamps, and move it just a little more towards the cab." I have the ame setup as you, with the 6 clamp design. "Just make sure the very back of the tonneau is barely touching the top of the tailgate and you should be alright." Hope this helps!

My father has a Ranger and this happens to him all the time. It is probably that back rail being too snug on top of the tail gate. Check that out first, it is probably your problem. Good luck with it.

Sounds like Peacemaker is correct, but I think people would understand "loosening or tightening" better.

"unloosening"...hehe

Alright now. Quit making fun of my hillbilly accent.

91,

I've got the same tonneau, but it's for a fullsize.

Etymology is the study of word origins and usage, including earliest recorded occurrence; and should not be mistaken with Entomology (Study of Insects) or Enzymology (Study of Enzymes and Proteins).

I'll put you down for a "Word A Day" desk calendar for Christmas.

You'll thank me when your robust vocabulary skills cause nubile co-eds to bypass less erudite individuals in favor of your suave and debonair persona.

Until the calendar gets there, that means:"You'll get some from hot college chicks because you seem smarter than the other guys."

Exclamation

uhhh...according to my Word desk calendar he just said you were a fat, wordy person attracting persons from the Sudan due to your being gay and carefree while in public.

...and something about volcanic matter.

(I'd slap him just to be safe)
