Microfiber Towels

I have been reading up on microfiber towels and noted how much a lot of you here at F150online like them for detailing your trucks. Thought I'd try some......
Checking into Pakshak.com, he had a kit of microfibers towel and waffle weave that looked pretty good. I noted that they were 70/30 mix. Then My girlfriend found some on ebay that were 80/20 at a much better price...... I got the Pakshak kit (70/30) of 3- 16" towels, 1-25x36 towel, and a mitt for about 57 bucks..... and on ebay I got 12- 16" towels (80/20) for 27 bucks.

Don't have them in my hands yet but I have to wonder which are gonna be the best and which one I got took on. The good ones I will keep for my trucks and the others will go to my GF for household duties.

Which do most of yall use.
I will post results when they are in hand.

I bought a set off of ebay specifically for my glass (as I was sure they wouldn't match up with my yosteve.com towels)...

Not sure who your seller is but, keep in mind you really get what you pay for... The ones that I bought off of ebay are thin and aren't even close to as nice as my yosteve towels...

Just my two cents... Honestly, I'd splurge a little and get some nice ones. They'll last you a while if you take good care of them.

DonnyD,

Not sure about the Ebay towels, but I'm pretty sure you're going to be real happy with PakShak's towels!

Yeah, I've kinda figured it will be "get what you pay for" sort of thing and I don't expect the ebay towels to be anywhere close to Pakshaks. If so, they'll be the GF's cleaning towels and Pakshaks will be MINE......... and the only time she'll touch mine is when she cleaning on my truck...............LOL

The ebay towels are fine for glass... they're small, rag sized, towels though...

I'm sure the ebay towels are gonna be just that..... but with 3 vehicles that we try keep looking good, I'm sure they'll come in handy. I currently use a bunch of cotton hand towels and a few cotton bath towels (white of course) and some polishing cloths that are kinda like t-shirt material. Although I never have a problem with them, I am sure the microtowels are gonna be much better.
BTW....on cleaning trucks..... check out my thread "how lucky can I be"......

DonnyD - not sure when you bought your towels form Pakshak, but $57 seemed very high for what you said you ordered..... I just bought a bunch of towels and they have a special going on now for $39 for exactly what you said you bought. (scroll down to bottom of www.pakshak.com order page to see specials)

Better yet is their special Autopia pricing -
$2.25 - 16x16"
$4.95 - 24x24"
$12.00 - 25x36" wafffle weave
$5.85 - Mitt
Shipping not included in above prices....

Just mention to Ranney that you were on the Autopia site and saw some good reviews there......

Autopia discount is the way to buy the better MF towels. Pakshak has great towels and the pricing is great if you ask. Ranney is great to work with.

APT - I wholeheartedly agree with you about Ranney..... he gave me an UNSOLICITED REFUND (!) after I had ordered already and mentioned I saw several references for him on Autopia..... (I had no idea he had an Autopia discount when I mentioned this)

Real thumbs-up!!

Guess I forgot what I actually ordered... I ordered teh 38.90 kit of the 3-16" towels, 1-25x36 towel and a mitt and then added a 25x36 waffle weave. That's how my total went up.....
I expect these towels to be very good................. and replace my chamois and my white cotton towels....

On Microfiber towels

I had similar questions a while back and bunch of finatics responded with helpful posts (Boss_429, MikeF150, APT).

APT posted to me the following:

"Tom, if you are looking for more towels for your paint at very good prices, send an e-mail to Tom Gong at JT International asking for his currenty inventory and prices.
jtintern@hotmail.com"

His pricing as of August 2nd was:
“Micro-touch” tagged 70/30 for auto detailing, removing wax, etc.
16x16 inch soft, plush terry towel 2.00 (dk green, blue, have PEEL-OFF
STICKER tag), mint green has sewn tag
NOTE: If removing peel-off sticker tag, I recommend grabbing the tag firmly
and then very carefully peel off the tag very slowly.

16x36 inch soft, plush terry towel 4.00 blue, mint green
24x24 inch soft, plush terry towel 4.00 blue, mint green (these have
PEEL-OFF STICKER tag)
24x46 inch soft, plush terry towel 7.00 blue, mint green, dk green

“Ultrafine” tagged 70/30 , for auto detailing, removing wax, etc.
15x15 inch soft, plush terry, slightly thicker 2.00 purple, navy blue,
gray, green, burgundy. NOTE: For some darker colored towels, I recommend
rinsing / washing a few times before first use because the color may tend to
temporarily bleed. The color bleeding goes away after the first few washes.

24x46 inch soft, plush terry, slightly thicker 7.00 blue, purple

“Waffle-Weave” Super Absorbent Drying Microfiber Towels 80/20
16x24 inch waffleweave 4.00 gold
16x36 inch waffleweave 7.00 blue, gold
24x46 inch waffleweave 12.00 blue, gold
28x54 inch waffleweave 16.00 light blue

Microfiber Mitt 3.00 navy blue

Prices do not include shipping and depends on your order size. I accept
PayPal email: jtintern@hotmail.com , VISA, MasterCard, AMEX, money
orders. California residents please add 7.875% sales tax. Please provide
me with your ZIP CODE to figure shipping charges.

I ship ASAP upon payment receipt.

Tom Gong responded, I paid him via PayPal and he shipped my order.

I have only one point of reference so my post here is not of real significance, but I am pleased with the towels I received. They are nice to work with and a real step up from the ones I got at Costco.

Here is a pointer to another set of responses on this subject.

Working with good MF towels will spoil you in about 3 minutes.
I didn't like the sound of the bleeding of dark colored towels so I didn't buy any dark ones.

Tom, I am glad you like JTI's towels! I only have his and Pakshak. They are both great products and people to do business with. Microfibertech also has an Autopia discount that makes his prices similar to these two.

APT

I have only one point of reference (JT's towels) that I am happy with, but one point of reference provides no comparison. Are JT's towels and Pakshak's towels on a par with each other?

Just curious,

I do not have a wide range of both of their towels. In my limited use/opinion, here is how I rank them.

JT Ultrafine > Pakshak > JT Microtouch

But that is only by my feel, not by effectiveness as in how much wax/polsih can one pickup. I have various sizes of each so I cannot easily compare that. The difference is very slight and they are all excellent. I heard so many things about Pakshak towels so I wanted to try them the second time I ordered. Pakshak are slightly more expensive, 10% or so. At the end of the day, both are top quality and I use them interchangeably. If there were a gun to my head forced to choose, I'd be shot.
