Dishsoap

I was reading through my manual in my truck and noticed that it says to never use dishsoap to wash your car. Is there any truth to this? I have used dishsoap on cars all my life and never seen any problem with them. Anyone know?

Repeated use of dishsoap can dry out paint, plastics and vinyl. Why not get a good car wash soap instead. If you look around, you can get a gallon of Meguiar's Gold Class for $10. That's cheaper than the dishsoap, and far better for your vehicle.

ChronicReign:

What Boss_429 said. Dishsoaps can also tend to strip wax from your vehicle. You're in Dallas.........you can get the $10 gallon of Meguiar's Gold Class Carwash at a local SuperTarget.

In addition to what those guys said....

Dishsoap will strip waxes (thus causing the paint to become dry and potentially brittle). Waxes, as you know, are very important to the longevity of your paint and the luster it has... with that being said, be reminded that appearance of your vehicle when trade or sell time comes is VERY important.

What Boss and ernie said. I use the Gold Class car wash too, and highly recommend it. It has everything going for it: it's good for your vehicles finish, it's readily available (e.g. Target stores), and it's inexpensive. Give it a whirl........

Thanks for all the advice guys. I think you'll all be happy to know that I just ordered a gallon of the gold car wash and some wax online. Thanks for everyone that replied. Can't wait until it all comes in.
