I have a 1998 f-150 XL and I attempted to acetone the fender emblems. I got all the black paint off and now it is just glossy black. I have gotten to the point where the q-tips no longer get black residue on them but the emblems are still glossy black. Can anyone tell me if the trick works on 1998's?

p.s. the glossy black emblems actually look pretty good.

 

I have heard some emblems from 97 and 98 are baked on.

 

Use brake clean to clean up the emblems.
