Angry Paint chip on SuperCab rear doors.

I've only had my '02 XLT SuperCab two months. Not a scratch on it when I got it, until now. Grrrrr....... Both rear doors have the paint chipped off the upper leading edge corners. The only thing I can think of are:

1) Rock chips (not likely since they both are affected)
2) Body flex under heavy loading / uneven terrain to cause the front doors to contact the rears.

Has anyone else heard of this problem?

What a DRAG!!

hinge pins?

Might be hinge pins. Fords are famous for wearing quickly, though your truck is very new. open the door and try to lift it gently for play. hope this helps

i noticed the doors on my 03 scab were chipping. i discovered the rear doors were not latching at the top. they need to be shut pretty firmly.

Mystery solved......actually not much of a mystery.

Caught my kids trying to shut the front and rear doors at the same time and I noticed the obvious interference near the point where the doors latch.

Gotta' keep an eye on those rascals every minute!!

That's great news, but it just created a new mystery for me. After reading your post, I checked both my doors on my Scab. Guess what, I found chips on the leading edge of both the door and suicide door on both the passenger and driver's door!

After playing around with it, I realized that there is no way I could have got those chips by closing them at the same time. My guess is that the body flex causes them to touch and chip while driving???
