Will warranty cover rust?

I washed my 2000 Lariat today and noticed bubbling on the bottom of the driver's side door. After reading about the warranty I can't figure out if this type of rust is covered. It mentions airborne and 3 years and 60,000 kms. It also mentions 5 years. Has anyone had rust on a 4 year old truck? If it is not covered should I get it repaired right away and will the repair last or will it be an ongoing process of taking it in every few years. I hope to keep this truck for a few more years. I'm surpised that rust would occur after only 4 years. Thanks for any input.

i would take it back if you still have warrenty left and try. my dealer said it had to be a hole before it was covered. rust under the doors was a big problem on these trucks.

I was recently looking at a 2001 F150 with only 26000 miles on it and I noticed the same thing under the driver's side door. There were some rust bubbles starting to form there. From this information, it seems that problem is common. Is this a common problem on the 2001's???

Also, how fast does the rust grow? Could I expect this truck to have a serious rust problem (visable on the outside of the door) within 3 years or so??? I would hate to have a truck with only 50-60,000 miles on it and the door already has visible rust.

Is there a simple (cheap) fix for it if you catch it early enough? I would really appreciate anyone's input and/or experience!

I have not noticed the bubbles yet on my 98 F-150 (if it even gets it with that model year) but have noticed rust coming out of the bottom weatherstripping around the window of the drivers door, have not taken a picture yet, has anyone else seen this?

Longbay-

I called a dealer near me and asked if the underside door rust is covered under 3yr/36K mile warranty. Their answer was "YES." He said that as long as it wasn't due to neglect, poor maintenance, or body work from an accident, it would be covered under the warranty. I did not ask if it would be covered under an extended warranty. There is another thread I started on this topic under the "General Discussion" forum. Good luck.
