Wax without the white plastic?

Hm...what color does #7 dry to? Maybe I got sloppy w/ the polish phase and not the waxing phase...

Probably would but, since plastic is a petroleum based product, I'd be a tad leary...

Very hard white.... that might be it.

When I get those ugly white stains on my trim I normally go over them with a white pencil eraser, then use Poorboy's Trim Restorer. I've never used anything like it (and believe me I've tried them all) and it takes care of it all. The best part is that is DOES NOT streak and lasts a long while.

Poorboy's only covers/masks the problem, much like using Jiffy PB.
