Hand wash only!!! Even though to do a thorough job it usually takes the better part of the day, there are no touch free car washes in Juneau and I REFUSE to run it through the one with the brushes. IMO that's just asking for trouble. When I lived closer to a brushless wash, I only used it in case of an emergency...i.e.: too damn cold to wash it by hand but I want the salt off...gotta go right now and the truck is ugly dirty...things like that. Besides there is a sense of pride when you get it done and it shines so pretty.

If I have the time, I do it myself. If less time, I spend 10 bucks plus tip to my local "hand wash" carwash.
They have guys wash your truck by hand, and they only use really soft wash mitts that they rinse frequently. I get a very good hand wash done in 15 to 20 minutes, unlike the 2 hours it takes me. Plus they use pressurized air to blow water out of the crevices and body openings that you can't get our yourself.
But never EVER take your truck or car to a traditional automated carwash. You will only end up with a less than clean truck, and possible scratches because of the dirt that stays on the media those machines use.

I use three different options - depending on the time of year. When it's warm enough, I always hand wash and dry my F-150. When it's between 30 and 40 degrees (F) I'll take it to the local $2.50 pressure wash and blow the worst stuff off, then bring her home for a "bucket" finish wash and dry. If it's colder than hell, I'll reluctantly use the touchless car wash option. I never go to a car wash that uses brushes.
