Yep, called blushing. It happens when there's too much moisture in the air. One thing that helps, not that it would now, is to bring them inside immediately after painting, and hitting it with a hairdryer. It may still clear up if you're lucky though, give it a little more time to dry, inside the house preferably.,,,98

The plan was to be able to use the single can for all 5 handles. They (paintscratch.com) said the large spray can would cover about 6sq ft. BS! That tossed the plan into a tizzy. I knew I'd be low, but thought for sure I'd be OK for these two friggen' handles. What a huge downer.

Now I have to drive around with my blue-tape of shame covering my doors, and no interior trim w/ rattles galore from the rear door.
*SIGH* Please hurry with my paint, paintscratch.com!!!!

So, next weekend isn't going to be as warm... prolly barely hit the low 60s... what am I to do?! No place to paint indoors... they say paint around 70... why? I understand how humidity effects the process, but will the 10-15 degree lower temps create more issues for me?!

Temp won't affect much, other than drying time. Humidity hurts drying time somewhat, but also creates the blush effect. Cool and dry would be your best bet, since it probably won't be getting any warmer up there.,,,,98

You can paint and then pull them inside the house immediately, that should reduce the blushing...

Thanks for the tips, 98. Last ? - How high is to high for humidity? 50%? 40%? 60%? I guesstimate it was in the 50-60% range last night...

I would imagine 60% or higher. Cold makes the effect worse for painting. Cold and dry is good, cold and wet is bad. When the sky clears up after a cold front, is usually a good time to spray if you don't have access to a heated area. Any one you know have one of those kerosene heaters you can borrow? Pull the truck out, close the garage door, and fire it up, hehe. ,,,,98

you should be nice to the rest of us and take pictures of your door panels all apart, i would be interested in painting my handles an stuff, but fear taking the truck apart...

Dr, have no fear taking the doors apart. They were some of the easiest doors to rip apart. No real nasty clips or anything. Screws and that's about it. I'll take some pics on the drivers side process.

I've also decided to get some dynamat xtreme and some dynashield to spray on the outer shell. Then, the rear wall, headliner and floor will follow. I'm going to see if I can achieve a Lexus-quiet F-150. I'll bust out the spl meter and take some measurements. Should be interesting.
