the silicone spray

i have the same problem with my wheels. i live in montana and they put that stupid salt stuff on the streets and its been snowing like everyday and then getting warmer so the streets are always wet with the stuff. NetBob928 you said that if i were put the silcone spray on my wheels it would keep them polished longer. would this keep the salt crap off of them or would it just get washed off by the streets? im getting tired of needing to polish every day.

Use any soap on wheels, Tide or Dawn dish sopa. DO NOT USE THEM ON PAINT. I have not polished chrome since I was a kid in the 60's

I bought American Racing polished Mojaves and after about 2 months they looked terrible. I've tried just about every aluminum/metal polish that's on the market. I probably have spent more on polishes than on the wheels. I have taken all 4 off the truck and brought them inside and worked on them for 3 days. They are pitted bad and stainless steel is what cleaned them up the best. 2 weeks on the truck and they look like hell again. Way too much work is required for these things. Having to wash/wax/polish wheels every couple weeks is more time than I wanna spend on them. Never again. My next wheels are gonna be chrome. They don't require near the work.

Has anyone tried spraying on a can of clearcoat from an auto store to protect their aluminum wheels?

clearcoating?

i was really thinking of doing this. but i dont know if the salt on the roads will take it back off or if its even worth the time. i have some carquest aluminum corrosive stuff that you mix with water and it just melts the nasty stuff off my wheels. i was thinking of using this and then clearcoating them. i would like to know if its worth my time.
