Question How to remove Wax from plastic

Does anyone know what works good to remove dry wax from the black plastic around the mirrors?

That works well too, just you have to clean up the residue it leaves

Stiff toothbrush and windex does it every time for me. Spray the windex on the toothbrush and scrub away. Wipe with a paper towel. Also if you use Pledge Wax on the plastic it makes keeping it clean a lot easier!

WD-40

Tried WD-40 for the first time this past week after reading about it numerous times on this site. Worked like a charm with minimal effort!

Removed several years of accumlated wax from the nooks and crannies of my plastic trim, then finished it off with an application of Mother's Back-to-Black. Looks like new!

PENCIL ERASERS!!!!!!!
it's easy and less trouble if you mess up! getting WD on the paint can't be good if left untouched! and using any type of metal brush will scratch. yes i heard magic eraser turned a guys handles white as well! PENCIL ERASERS!!

Another YES for pencil erasers (you'll be surprised) and DO NOT use that Mr Clean Magic Eraser on black plastic. It will stain the item grayish-white. After the eraser, go to Autozone (et al) and apply some Back to Black (red bottle, forget the maker), that stuff works really well on Ford Exterior Vinyl. Keeps the L's exterior black plastic looking like new.

I tried the wd-40 last night. It cleaned up the plastic real nice but when I went out this morning the wax stains were back and worse than ever.

And wd-40 doesn't hurt the paint.

FYI -- I applied mine with a Q-tip that was dipped in the WD-40 and just rubbed lightly down into the texture of the plastic to remove the old wax. It also made it easy to control where the WD-40 went, since I wouldn't want it running down my freshly waxed bumpers or paint! Maybe this had something to do with why I had better results (?).

I just checked my truck today and I have not had any of the wax re-appear. Of course I also coated the plastic with an application of "Back-to-Black" right afterwards, so maybe that is a difference as well?
